Newly signed QB Brett Favre is slated to start for the Vikings in tonight's game against the Chiefs. He'll likely play only one series, which won't give onlookers much of a chance to assess what his impact will be this year. Tavaris Jackson will take on the backup duties as Sage Rosenfels is expected to sit out due to an ankle injury.
Pyro's Take:
And so it begins. Round three of the Brett Favre saga is sure to be an interesting one, as the almost 40-year old gunslinger joins a Vikings team primed to make a run at the Super Bowl. The side soap opera storyline of joining a team within the same conference as the team that made him famous, the Green Bay Packers, should be fun to watch a couple times this year as well. At least we don't have to deal with the "is he or isn't he" riffraff anymore.
On a side note, this might be Tavaris Jackson's last chance to prove himself worthy of backup QB capabilities. He'll likely need a Fran Tarkingtonesque performance to do so.
