The Falcons' top receiver has yet to report to training camp as he seeks a new contract. His current one expires after this season.
Pyro's Take:
This could take a while, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter on Twitter. White is coming off a career year and he wants to make more than the $2.28 million he's scheduled to make this year. Even though he's being fined $16,000 everyday he misses camp, when he shows up, he should be ready to backup his Pro-Bowl season with another strong one.
WR Harry Douglas was lost for the season due to a knee injury suffered this week. With Roddy White holding out, the WR corps is suddenly a bit thin.
Pyro's Take:
Michael Jenkins, who has increased his production in each year in all categories since entering the league must be all smiles. The Falcons, in an act of pure desperation, signed Marty Booger and Robert Ferguson (yes, who played for the Pack) on Thursday. We thought the White thing would have already been settled by now. Stay tuned.
Roddy White is working out with former teammates in Birmingham, AL in hopes of not losing a step while he holds out for a new deal.
Pyro's Take:
The Falcons are dropping the ball on this one. The new deal is inevitable, White is a Pro-Bowler, and they don't pick up anything in all of this. If a new deal is not struck before the first pre-season game, we are going to bump Ryan and White down a bit.
Roddy White signed a $50 million deal late Saturday night with a reported $18.6 million guaranteed. This makes him among the highest paid at his position.
Pyro's Take:
We're not seeing what the Falcons or White's camp accomplished by even having this bite into one hour of camp, much less a week, but it shouldn't do much damage. We're just glad to not have to knock down White in our rankings. He and Matt Ryan have a bright future together.
Even though Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White just ended his holdout on Monday, coach Mike Smith said "barring any change, I wouldn’t see any reason why he wouldn’t go out and play" in the Falcons' first preseason game on Saturday.
Pyro's Take:
This is positive, as it shows the management isn't concerned with punishing White and they think that, despite missing a week of training camp, he's ready to work with the first-team. White should be able to post similar numbers to last season. The presence of Gonzo works both ways. Teams won't be able to double team Roddy as much, but on the other hand, the Falcons did not have a TE worth targeting last season.
Newly acquired future Hall of Fame TE Tony Gonzalez is raving about the Atlanta Falcons passing attack, saying it's the best receiving corps he's ever been a part of. "It's a 'poison offense' — pick your poison; there's no more double-teaming. If you double-team someone, you're going to get killed by somebody else."
Pyro's Take:
After Roddy White and Michael Jenkins, the Falcons are pretty thin as far as receivers go with Harry Douglas out for the year. But Gonzalez has been a part of some lackluster teams in KC and we like this passing attack to shine with Gonzo in the mix.
Tennessee Titans RB LenDale White rushed only six times for 12 yards in the Titans preseason opener, but as he did last year, got the call when the team entered the red-zone. White got consecutive carries down by the goal, and scored on the second try from three yards out.
Pyro's Take:
Even though LenDale has lost a significant amount of weight since last year, he'll still be the beast with the ball inside the red-zone this season. He probably won't get as many touches as he got last year (205 touches), but he'll still be eating into Chris Johnson's fantasy value a touch and end up with around 10 TDs.

He was that good – we were seeing it happen,” Titans fullback Ahmard Hall said of Johnson. “He’s still got a lot to learn in terms of where to go and how to protect, but once he figures it out and the game starts slowing down for him, he’s going to be one of the best that’s ever played the game.”
Pyro's Take:
“I’m trying to be The Man,” Johnson says. “If a player doesn’t think that way, he’s not being truthful. I don’t think anybody wants to go down in history [only] as, ‘I was a great team player.’ I’m a team player and I want to get to the Super Bowl. But when all is said and done, I want to be in the Hall of Fame.” Keep up what you started, Chris, and that's exactly where you'll end up. The only reason why Johnson isn't a top-5 fantasy pick this year is because LenDale White will still be stealing the goal-line touches from him. Otherwise, you can still feel confident with him as a RB1 on your team.
Carolina Panthers rookie RB Mike Goodson was fined $7,500 by the NFL for his unsportsmanlike throat-slashing gesture in Monday night's preseason game against the New York Giants.
Pyro's Take:
Goodson also picked up a 15-yard penalty for his antics, which was done after an impressive 14-yard TD run. Goodson has a ton of talent, but will likely be stuck as the third RB on the Panthers this season behind DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. If one of those two guys goes down, Goodson could end up having some pretty good value.
