Zay Jones

Buffalo Bills

Jones to Compete for WR2

Zay Jones' and his 399 college reception record could make an immediate impact as he performed favorable to Sterling Shepard in college.

Fantasy Goo: Jones' is many fantasy analysts favorite among rookie WRs in 2017. With the 167 vacated targets among Woods, Goodwin and Hunter, Zay has upside as a fantasy WR3.

Will Tye

New York Giants

Coughlin May Bring Giants to JAX

The Giants have reportedly started shopping Will Tye and Tom Coughlin may be a suitor. If Tye is traded it would convey their plans to use Engram could be immediate.

Fantasy Goo: Although rookie TE's have historically lacked production, Engram is more of a big slot WR. If they move Tye Engram will likely split time in teh slot with Sterling Shepard and could be worth a late round flier after we saw Shepard score 8 TDs in the same position.

Geronimo Allison

Green Bay Packers

Geronimo Suspended For Opener

Geronimo Allison is suspended for Week 1 due to violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.

Fantasy Goo: It is worth noting that Geronimo put up 4 catches for 91 yards and a score Week 17 when Jordy was being shadowed by Darrius Slay. He could be nice DFS play in games Jordy gets shadowed and Cobb or Adams are inactive.

Braxton Miller

Houston Texans

Braxton A Breakout WR?

QB Guru George Whitfield thinks Braxton Miller could take a dramatic step forward as a WR

Fantasy Goo: September 7, 2015. That was when Braxton took a direct snap, scrambled left and then put a spin move on the Virginia Tech defense that froze in time and broke Twitter. Miller was an all around stud in college and has Julian Edelman type potential. He could be worth a very late round pick, but keep him on your radar.

Todd Gurley

Los Angeles Rams

Todd Gurley Could See More Targets in 2017

Sean McVay recently went on ESPN LA and talked about Jared Goff's development and how the Rams are looking to get Gurley more work in the passing game.

Fantasy Goo: Not known for his receiving skills, despite Dunbar coming to the Rams in the offseason, Sean McVay will travel by air to get Gurley into open space. McVay know's the O-Line is a work in progress, but Gurley is an animal in the open field.

Le'Veon Bell

Pittsburgh Steelers

Le'Veon Bellcow To Play On Franchise Tag

Le'Veon Bell reportedly turned down the Steelers 5 year contract that averaged 12 million per year. That number is 50% higher than the next highest paid RB, LeSean McCoy.

Fantasy Goo: This was a ballsy move by Bell, he has stated that he wants to reset the RB market. Adrian Peterson's 2012 was one of the largest RB contracts as he amassed $20.1 million on his base + incentives. Le'Veon Bell is now the #1 player to have in 2017 playing on a contact year under the Franchise tag.

Dan Orlovsky

Detroit Lions

Rams Add Veteran QB

The Rams veteran journeyman Dan Orlovsky to backup their promising young QB Jared Goff. Orlovsky is rejoining his OC from his 2005 season in Detroit.

Fantasy Goo: Orlovsky's last effective game was in 2015 when he threw for 191 yards with a TD and an interception. Even if Goff goes down for an extended period of time Orlovsky has never shown the ability to have a fantasy presence.

Carlos Henderson

Denver Broncos

Carlos Henderson Impresses in Broncos OTA’s

"Carlos is a great route-runner," fellow wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders said during OTAs. "He keeps his arms running through the cuts. I’ve been watching film on him and just seeing how he is. He is a technique guy."

Fantasy Goo: This offense has been missing the short-game middle of the field presence in the passing game from a TE or slot receiver. It’s hard to say how many opportunities are there with the QB situation the way it is and two premier receivers on the outside, but this report sounds like they are looking to create opportunities for him, even if it’s on special teams. His metrics profile compares best to Stealing Sheppard.

Chris Johnson

Arizona Cardinals

Cardinals Re-sign RB Chris Johnson to One-year Contract

This is the perfect situation for everyone involved. Johnson obviously knows the offense, the Cardinals have a solid back-up and can bring their rookie along slowly. Ellington has moved to WR and Kerwynn Williams is comfortable with the offense, but certainly not a solid No.2.

Fantasy Goo:
It doesn’t move the needle for anyone’s value, David Johnson is still the number one or two overall pick and there was no “handcuff” on the radar to begin with. In the four games Chris Johnson was active last year he only did more than spell David in one game, when Arizona crushed Tennessee 40-7.

Mike Williams

Los Angeles Chargers

Chargers First Round Pick Might Need Surgery

Reports on Mike Williams are mixed on whether he’ll need surgery or not for the herniated disk in his back, either way it seems unlikely that he will have anything to contribute this year. It seems like Schefter and Rapoport are having a little pissing contest as to whether Williams will actually need surgery.

Fantasy Goo: Draft Tyrell Williams as your WR3, he’s going after the 10th round right now, but that won’t happen for much longer. Keep Dontrell Inman on your radar, he could be a late round flyer in PPR leagues, with Allen out last year Inman finished with more PPR points than Ginn, Cobb and DeVante Parker.

Gary Barnidge

Cleveland Browns

Jaguars Meet With Barnidge

“Barnidge was released by Cleveland following this year's NFL Draft. The Browns used a first-round pick on Miami tight end David Njoku, who is set to take on Barnidge's playing time. If the Jaguars were to sign Barnidge, it would be a homecoming for the veteran tight end.”

Fantasy Goo: This means nothing, Barnidge will not have a repeat of his 2015 season. Barnidge is a solid blocking TE that had a spectacular year when there were no other options in the offense. The Jaguars aren’t very adept at using the TE either, Julius Thomas did next to nothing in his two years with the team.

Jay Ajayi

Miami Dolphins

Run Anywhere Else

When Jay Ajayi runs to either side of Jermon Bushrod the Dolphins starting right guard (7 or 8 holes) he averaged 2.97 yards per rush. When Jay Ajayi ran on plays designed for any other holes he averaged 6.04 yards per.

Fantasy Goo: Bushrod was clearly the weak link in Miami's line finishing the year with a 43 PFF Player grade. Look for Miami to try to replace him with Kraig Urbik or Jesse Davis once training camps roll in.

D'Onta Foreman

Houston Texans

Texans Rookie Gets Caught with Stoned Friend

Big news of D’Onta Foreman’s arrest came on Sunday (7/16) and because everyone is in front of their computers, the news splashed Twitter into a frenzy. The gun he had was legal, his passenger is taking the fall for the weed.

Fantasy Goo: If he’s clean on the piss test, absolutely nothing happens, maybe a 1-2 game suspension at most. He does take a hit in dynasty if he fails the drug test, buy low.

07/16/17, 02:49 PM CDT by Wheeler

Jarvis Landry

Miami Dolphins

Deadline Set for Miami to Re-Sign Landry

Landry will not negotiate his contract after the season begins. I’m not so sure Landry is in Miami’s future plans. They surely won’t franchise him for $18 million next year and they just gave Kenny Stills a nice contract.

Fantasy Goo:I believe Miami has high hopes for DeVante Parker becoming the wide receiver one they drafted him to be. That may be a tall task with Tannehill running the show, but Parker appears to be far more committed to improving this year.

Carlos Hyde

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers Backfield Community

Reports out of SF say that Hyde has to earn the starting job. SF drafted two running backs and signed several free agents in the off-season including Tim Hightower and Kyle Juszczyk. If Hyde stays healthy there’s little doubt he earns the job, but he’s in the last year of his contract so if SF has their expected slow start I expect them to turn to their other options quickly.

Fantasy Goo: There are also reports that Hyde doesn’t fit into the Shanahan system well, he’s a tremendous athlete, but this is the time of year to pay attention to the negative information when we usually see nothing but fluff.

07/15/17, 08:48 AM CDT by Wheeler

Virgil Green

Denver Broncos

Denver Tight End Job Up for Grabs

The team did select tight end Jake Butt in the 2017 NFL draft, but a knee injury suffered in Michigan’s bowl game may keep the talented rookie out of action for this entire season.

Fantasy Goo: Virgil Green is a blocker and AJ Derby is a natural athlete that converted to TE from QB, they believe he can be used in many ways and McCoy’s offense can use a third pass-catcher. Derby isn’t worth drafting, but we may want to keep an eye on him.

07/15/17, 08:42 AM CDT by Wheeler

Demaryius Thomas

Denver Broncos

Denver Receivers Excited for New Offense

“We’ve got this new offense with Mike McCoy. We’re going to be throwing the ball around so my conditioning has to be up and I’ve been working on that.’’
Sanders is working on a healthier lifestyle and getting ready for a high paced offense. Thomas is just happy to get his favorite play back in the rotation (WR screen).

Fantasy Goo: Thomas’ ADP is rising to the second round, while Sanders’ is hanging around in the late fifth. If you miss on Thomas keep an eye on Sanders slipping to you. While we’re not sure who the QB will be, these two should be just fine where they are being drafted.

07/15/17, 08:37 AM CDT by Wheeler

Doug Martin

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

McNichols Working on Pass Catching Skills

Jeremy McNichols has been working with the Bucs wide receivers. He's going basically undrafted, McNichols may be worth a late round flyer if you’re in a FFPC (28 round) draft, but we have to see what happens in camp before we can judge this one.

Fantasy Goo: Doug Martin’s ADP has risen to the point where he’s getting way too expensive. If he’s hanging around in the ninth or tenth he might be worth a shot, but there are probably better options to choose from before that point.

07/15/17, 08:30 AM CDT by Wheeler

Frank Gore

Indianapolis Colts

Opportunities in Colts Backfield

“As long as I’m healthy and my guys up front get me the opportunities, I’m going to be successful,’’ Gore said.
Offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski remains squarely in Gore’s corner, but there figures to be more of a backs-by-committee approach this season. “You can go a lot of different directions in that you can feature more things or different things with different people,’’ he said. “Some of that will be personnel-driven.’’

Fantasy Goo: With no improvements to the O-line, Robert Turbin showing life in camp, and Marlon Mack being drafted, I don’t see how Gore improves on last year’s total. He keeps on ticking like the energizer bunny, but I think that cliff is close. I’ve been high on him every year until now.

07/15/17, 08:25 AM CDT by Wheeler

Eric Ebron

Detroit Lions

Ebron to see more red-zone targets?

Ebron’s ADP has risen 2-3 rounds, depending on your scoring, in the past two months. Everyone seems to think that Ebron will see more red-zone looks this year with Boldin’s 22 RZ targets leaving town. He has a very safe floor so there’s no real downside to drafting him in the eighth round or later.

Fantasy Goo: I’m going to keep an eye on Boldin as well, he hasn’t signed with another team yet, and he’s not finished playing. Detroit is still on the list of places he could end up.

 Pickups After Week 10

russell wilson pyro character - fantasy football

Russell Wilson - QB - Seattle Seahawks

Seems like we continually put Russell on this list, but he's still available in a lot of leagues out there. In the past 5 games this rookie has 10 TDs and 2 interceptions, pretty solid! Let's compare that to the rookie QB that everyone is going gaga over, Andrew Luck, who in his past 5 games has 3 touchdown passes and 4 interceptions. Luck has rushed for 4 TDs and had a 400 yard passing game over that span, which obviously boosts his stock, but passing-wise, Wilson is scoring through the air more than the NFL's #1 overall pick. On the season Wilson has 1 more TD that Andrew does, 15 passing TDs compaired to Luck's 10 passing TDs and 5 rushing TDs. Luck is a fantasy starter in 10 team leagues, maybe it's time to start considering Wilson as a guy you can start if you don't have a stud at the position, or have been hit by an injury (Big Ben owners).

colin kaepernick pyro character - san francisco 49ers QB - fantasy football

Colin Keapernick - QB - San Francisco 49ers

All signs point to Alex Smith playing against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. He's been a healthy QB, at least no head injury concerns the team has to worry about, I bet he plays. Which would make Colin K a wasted pickup... but if you have a deep bench, it's worth considering, because if Alex is out or gets labeled again, Colin is a prime fantasy football point machine because he can run so well. He has shown he's an explosive playmaker when under center, usually using his feet. He's an athletic specimen at 6'4" runs faster than Cam Newton (he has 3 TDs runs this season in super-limited action) and has some great playmakers around him. Deep sleeper pick still!

jake locker pyro character - tennessee titans qb - fantasy football

Jake Locker - QB - Tennessee Titans

He didn't have a great game, but he's back! You know we like what this kid can do fantasy-wise, mostly because in standard scoring leagues he can provide points on the ground and has great receivers. While I must mention that he has zero TDs this year on the ground, we expect that to change this week… if he's available on your waiver wire and you need some depth at QB - this is the kind of player that can be your starting QB down the stretch if you don't have one of the horses or injury strikes your squad! Lot's of people dropped him when he got injured last, take a look.

nick foles pyro character - qb philadelphia eagles - fantasy football

Nick Foles - QB - Philadelphia Eagles

We've been singing this kid's praises for about weeks now. Mike was getting injured on every play… and now he actually has a "significant head injury", on a season that is a re-do for the franchise anyway. Add to that a contract that will not be played out by Vick, and fantasy football fans, welcome to the future - Nick Folk is going to be the starting QB for the Eagles for the rest of the year.

Marcel Reece - RB - Oakland Raiders

Looks like Mr. Injury Prone is back on the mend again for a while. Man he just can't stay healthy... Mike Goodson is not going to play this week either. Taiwan Jones is too small, so that leaves Marcel Reece as the RB most like to get fantasy points on an Oakland team that put the points on the board weekly. Good thing is Reece is more of the passing attack back, which is perfect, because no matter what with that Raiders defense being so pourous they will be behind and passing the ball.

chris ivory pyro character- RB - new orleans saints - fantasy football

Chris Ivory - RB - New Orleans Saints

Did you see that 56 yard run by #29 last weekend? It was off the charts. Not sure how much longer Mark Ingram can keep getting the carries, Ivory has shown time and after time that he's a better runner than the Heisman Trophy winner. Remember that Ivory was signed a few weeks ago, and has a TD in each of the two weeks he's played on his old team. I really like the upside of this pickup.

danny amendola pyro character - rams - WR - fantasy football

Danny Amendola - WR - St. Louis Rams

Danny boy hadn't played football in 5 weeks, but he's definitely back on his pass catching grind and the no brainer choice for a scantron test question asking who Sam Bradford's favorite target is. He posted 11 catches on 12 targets and had 102 yards this week, and that was against the best defense in the league. If he's available, especially in PPR (which would be amazing if he still is), then grab him. Crazy stat is that in 3 years in the league, the little white fella only has 6 TDs, so he's not that type of fantasy point scorer, just know that if you are in a TD heavy league - he's not that great.

golden tate pyro character - WR - seattle seahawks - fantasy football

Golden Tate - WR - Seattle Seahawks

He does't have a 100 yard game yet this year, and only has 26 catches on the season, but he does have 3 TDs in the past 2 games (real TDs, not that Green Bay game type of TD). This makes him a wideout worth looking at. I know that Golden "Donut" Tate and Russell Wilson are good buddies of the field, so maybe that whole Romo/Witten thing starts happening in 12th man territory.

greg olsen pyro character - TE carolina panthers - fantasy football

Greg Olsen - TE - Carolina Panthers

Greg has been fairly consistent this season, marginal, but consistant. To land on this list yet again, it's really his targets (19) and catches (14) over the past 2 weeks that has us believing the ex-Bear may have a really nice second half of the season at a position a lot of teams are looking for points.

emmanuel sanders pyro character - wr - steelers

Emmanuel Sanders - WR - Pittsburgh Steelers

With Antonio being week-to-week with a mild ankle sprain, Emmanuel Sanders will get the start and most of the targets left behind. He had 7 targets this week, but was only able to haul in 2 of them. With Big Ben getting hurt it it's hard to say whether that hurts or helps his chances to put up serviceable fantasy points from Byron Leftwich. Sanders only has 1 TD on the season, so keep your expectations low regardless. This team is in a grey zone at the moment, eeking out a low scoring voctory over the worst team in the league in the Chiefs.

mohamed sanu pyro characterr - begals wr - fantasy football

Mohamed Sanu - WR - Cinncinati Bengals

Mohamed had his first TD catch as a pro on Sunday (he threw one earlier in the season to A.J.), and was drafted in the 3rd round of April's draft to be the Bengals WR2 alongside A.J. Green, but 9 catches on 12 targets is all he's shown thus far on the year. We put him on the list I suppose in the hopes that he totally turns it on down the stretch, but don't expect much from this rookie from Rutgers.

riley cooper pyro character - wr - philadelphia eagles

Riley Cooper - WR - Philadelphia Eagles

I like Damarius Johnson better as a sneaky pickup in the Eagles situation, but Riley is a big target in the Eric Decker mould that has been playing catch with Nick Foles with the second team for months. He could breakout! Stranger things have happened.

Damaris Johnson - WR - Philadelphia Eagles

Maclin out, Avant out, a fellow second teamer in Nick Foles in at QB, this kid could put up a nice few games in a row here. What do the Eagles have to lose?
