Injury Report

Yellow

Brown’s durability is a potential concern in the NFL. Injury troubles and broken bones in his left foot hampered him in ’07 and ’08, limiting him to only 75 touches in ’07. Given that he never rushed more than 200 times as a starter in college is a significant hurdle that he’ll have to overcome to prove himself in the League.

Brown trying to be the man in New York

While Andre Brown has performed exceptionally well in the four games he has played for the Giants since returning from a broken left fibula, the fifth-year running back expects to see even more improvement.

“I still feel like I’m just scratching the surface of what my potential can be, and that comes with more playing time, more experience, more games,” he said after practice on Friday as Big Blue prepared to fly west and face the Chargers on Sunday. “I look at it, I’m still young because I haven’t been playing that many years. [My] first year [playing] was last year, but this is my fifth if you look at it in the league.”

“When you get your opportunity, you take advantage of it. When I’m healthy, I feel like I’m up there with the best of them. I’m going to continue to go, week after week.”

Pyro's take: Brown is coming off a tough game in terms of yardage, but he did score two touchdowns last week. Brown has tons of motviation, as he is playing for a chance to be the starter next year. If Brown continues to play well, there is no reason to believe that he will be the man in New York next season.

This week he gets his shot at the Chargers, who are middle of pack in terms of rushing defense. The Chargers are a good team in terms of time of possession, so Brown will be counted on to do the same for his team. Brown should be able to score in this game and is a must start if you own him.

Andre Brown ready for the Cowboys

RE: Weather

A: I’ve never played in the snow so that would be fun. The weather’s not going to, I guess it will affect us throwing or anything, but I just know that I’m going to go out there prepared and ready to go. No matter if it’s cold or hot or warm, I’m just going to be ready to go. Hopefully Dallas won’t like it being cold. Us being used to the cold weather could be an advantage but it is what it is.

Q: You didn’t play in that first game but that first game was so much about turnovers. Would you expect that it’s going to be big again?

A: Yeah, any Sunday you don’t want to have as many turnovers as we had. We had what, six? The bad thing is that we had six but there is also a good thing, a positive side that we were still in the game and probably still could have won. You want to eliminate the turnovers and play excellent football with the offense well-balanced. We want to be able to run and throw the ball real well but depending on the wind and all that stuff, who knows? As long as we go out there and put our best foot forward, I’m pretty sure that we’ll come out on top.

Pyro's take: The weather is supposed to be a big factor, which could mean a lot of running this week. This is a great week for that to happen for Brown.

The Cowboys are giving up the most points to running backs in fantasy this season at a clip of 24.6 points per game. Andre should see a heavy workload and be able to find some big holes, with Sean Lee missing from the defense this week. Brown is a must start this week.

Brown is back for Giants

The Giants aren’t expecting miracles from Brown, or are they?

“Forty carries and 15 receptions, run the kickoff back,’’ coach Tom Coughlin said of his expectations in Brown’s 2013 debut. “What else would you like?’’

When told of the expectations from his head coach, Brown’s eyes widened.

“Then you might as well go ahead and put a tombstone up with ‘RIP’ on it,’’ Brown said.

When assured Coughlin was kidding but that he did expect Brown to make an impact, Brown said: “I have to agree with him.’’

Pyro's take: Andre Brown will come back this week for the Giants, and we can finally go back to a fantasy world without Brandon Jacobs and Peyton Hillis.

Brown will be the lead back, as well as the goal line back for the Giants from here on out. As long as he stays healthy, since he has twice broken fibula, Brown will see close to 20 touches a game. Oakland is a middle of the pack defense, in terms of giving up points to running backs, but Andre should have some success in this game.

Andre Brown undergoes successful Achilles surgery

New York Giants rookie RB Andre Brown underwent successful surgery today after rupturing his Achilles tendon last Friday.

Pyro's take: Brown looked to have a promising future before the injury, but his career is now in question. Achilles injuries tend to take a severe toll on the rest of the leg, and if you couple that with the fact that he had foot problems throughout college as well, we might be seeing the end of a budding career before it even starts.

Giants' rookie Andre Brown to miss season with ruptured achilles tendon

Andre Brown was having a great camp until practice early Friday evening. As he went up for a pass in traffic, he landed awkwardly on his foot and ruptured his achilles tendon. He will miss the entire season.

Pyro's take: Buzzkiller. Ouch. Just ask Dave Brass about those achilles injuries. Go on ahead and bump Ahmad Bradshaw, as at least one more threat is gone from the three-headed RBBC. Danny Ware moves up to third string, but we can't see him being used much. This will be Jacobs and Bradshaw until one of 'em goes down.
