As has become the norm for the man they call ‘Quan, another injury-plagued season was written in the books by the end of 2009. Whether it was his hamstring, his ankle, his knee or whatever else, Boldin limped through a fifth non-full season out of his seven in the league, yet still finished with numbers that landed him inside the top-25 fantasy receivers in the game. It’s truly scary to think what this guy could do if he could only stay fully healthy for an entire year. He’s probably the strongest wide receiver in the game, as evidenced by his Popeye-esque arms; he has great hands and relishes going over the middle (a rarity in the NFL); and what he does with the ball once it gets in his hands is unquestionably tops in the game. His 84 catches last year put him square at 9th in the league (11th including TEs), an impressive stat considering the injuries. However, his TD total of four left fantasy owners with a sour taste in their mouth, to which we say; just imagine what Boldin would do for your team if he was able to play outside the shadow of Larry Fitzgerald……

Ask, and ye shall receive… The Arizona Cardinals finally gave Anquan his wish and shipped him off to Baltimore where he signed the hefty contract he’s long been coveting. It probably wasn’t as long of a deal as he would have liked, but the numbers were enough for him to sign on the dotted line. Now even though he won’t have one of the most accurate QBs of all time throwing to him anymore (Kurt Warner), Joe Flacco is certainly no slouch, and he can make any throw asked of him across the entire field. Additionally, Boldin will be considered the #1 WR for the first time since 2003, which has us all interested to see if he can repeat the numbers he put up in his then-rookie campaign (101-1377-8). If the Ravens move away from their running game just a touch and open up the offense for their star acquisition, it’s very possible ‘Quan can approach those numbers. We expect a bit less in the receptions and yardage categories, but double-digit TDs are well within his reach.
~ It might take a little while for Boldin to gel with his new QB and WRs, but not enough to affect his overall numbers too much
~ The Ravens are a run-first team, but that should change a bit with a legit WR1 in the mix
~ Derrick Mason will steal some catches away from Boldin, but not nearly as many as Fitz did in Arizona
~ How will signing his big contract affect his all-out play?
~ After playing in Arizona his whole career, moving to a cold-weather stadium might affect his play later on in the year, especially considering his injury-plagued past

Boldin finally got the deal he was looking for and signed a four-year, $28 million contract in March of 2010 that included $10 million guaranteed. The details of the contract are listed below:
2010 – $2 million
2011 – $6 million
2012 – $6 million
2013 – $6 million
2014 – Free Agent
Derrick Mason has fantasy value on his own, so Donte Stallworth could be considered a handcuff here
Despite being one of the toughest guys in the entire league, he still tends to get injured for at least a couple games each year. His fearlessness and confidence in his strength make him the special player that he is, but also ends up tagging him as an injury risk
