Anthony Fasano

Miami Dolphins

Tuna Knows His Tight Ends

Despite the fact that the Cowboys already had All-Pro tight end Jason Witten on the team, Bill Parcells decided to draft Anthony Fasano in the 2nd round of the 2006 draft anyway.  He said that Fasano really reminded him of one of his old TEs, Mark Bavaro, when he was back with the Giants in the 80's.  Of course, because the Cowboys had Witten already, Fasano didn't get to showcase his talent as much as he would have liked and ended up with marginal stats.  In 2008, with Parcells now in the Dolphins organization, Miami quickly pulled off a trade to acquire the young promising TE.

2009 Fantasy Outlook

He put up 454 yards and seven TDs in his third year (2008) ranked him 9th (basic format) in TE production and marked his best statistical output.  Let's start a new bullshit theory "The third year TE breakout rule".  Parcells knew what he was doing when he traded for him before last season with the Cowboys.  He is a good candidate to maintain this production given the poo at WR for the 'Fins.  Fasano owners should expect a similar numbers again in '09 as the Dolphins offense, along with Chad Pennington, like to incorporate the TE.  Fasano is in a contract year.  Make him the 29th TE this summer.

Contract

In July of 2006, Fasano signed a four-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys (before being traded to the Dolphins).  This is the final year of that initial deal and Fasano will become a free agent at the end of the season.

2009 - $530,000

2010 - Free Agent

Breaking News

Fasano ruled out for Thursday night game expand +

Dolphins tight end Anthony Fasano (hip) has officially been ruled out for Thursday night's game against the Panthers.

Pyro's Take:

Joey Haynos and Kory Sperry will get the work in his place, not like any of this affects your fantasy football team.

Anthony Fasano misses practice Monday expand +

Dolphins tight end Anthony Fasano (hip) missed practice on Monday and his status for Thursday's game remains questionable.

Pyro's Take:

How large is your league? Were you really starting Fasano? If so, go ahead and add his replacement from last week, Kory Sperry, to your fantasy football team. He DID catch a TD... against the Bucs.

TE Fasano inactive for 'Fins expand +

Dolphins tight end Anthony Fasano (hip) was declared inactive for the game against the Bucs today.

Pyro's Take:

He wasn't going to be in your fantasy football lineup anyway.

Anthony Fasano limited in practice Wednesday expand +

Dolphins tight end Anthony Fasano (hip) was limited at practice on Wednesday.

Pyro's Take:

Fasano hasn't been near the touchdown machine that he was last year, so if he happens to be on your fantasy football team, unless you are in a 10 or 12-man league, we wouldn't suggest playing him, even as a TE2.

Fasano to snap out of funk this weekend? expand +

Fasano is confident he can get it going this week against the Bills, but he admits it's going to take time to gel with the young, cannon-armed Chad Henne.

Pyro's Take:

Hey Tony, why don't you fumble another one of your three catches, pal. Speaking of gel...

Another crap day for Fasano, but he's making no excuses expand +

Fasano is thus far making no excuses for his awful numbers thru three weeks of football.

Pyro's Take:

This is not the way to start out a contract year. Fasano is being used to block more often this year, and the 'fins have not been looking for him over the middle, which is where he made his money last year.

Anthony Fasano registers no stats that matter on Sunday expand +

Fasano had zero catches on the day vs. San Diego.

Pyro's Take:

Wow. Contract year. Ouch.

Anthony Fasano catches only one ball in loss to Indy expand +

Fasano follows up a week opening showing with another bag'a'donuts in week 2 vs. the Colts.

Pyro's Take:

He dropped a touchdown pass, and Pennington didn't look his way much the rest of the night. The 'fins ran a whole bunch of Wildcat in an attempt to keep Manningface off the field, but it didn't matter - the guy is too good.

Anthony Fasano fumbles both of his catches expand +

Anthony Fasano managed to fumble both of his catches in the week one loss in Atlanta.

Pyro's Take:

Nice work, butterfingers. He's in a contract year.
