Seahawks Sign FA QB

Pyro's take: Just it's not Colin Kaepernick, the Hawks signed Austin Davis who they saw have a couple nice starts for the now LA Rams in 2015.

Fantasy Goo: Colin Kapernick this, Colin Kaepernick that. Austin Davis could be a nice streamer if Russell misses any time in 2017 but he is far from fantasy relevant.

Mike Pettine indicated Wednesday that he is open to turning back to Johnny Manziel as the Browns' starter at some point.

JM

Pyro's take: "I talked to the quarterbacks this morning and I said given where we are, what our circumstances are, it's safe to say now that this is a weekly thing,'' said Pettine. "The decision was made, it's Austin for this week and I'm not going to go beyond that."

"We'll revisit this (decision),'' Pettine said. "These are two players that we both want to see play is the bottom line. I don't want to declare, 'hey, this is what it's going to be here on out.' These are two young quarterbacks that have upside and we want to see what that upside is. So Austin's the guy for this week.''

The Browns have named Austin Davis their starting quarterback for Week 13 against the Bengals.

AD

Pyro's take: "Austin took advantage of his opportunity on Monday night. He was prepared, played well and put us in position to win,” Pettine said. “He’s been great in the quarterback room all season and he has earned the right to start on Sunday. We expect him to play well.”

In eight starts and 10 overall appearances with the St. Louis Rams last season, Davis completed 180-of-284 passes for 2,001 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Should start

Jeff Fisher has a way about him that makes other people wonder what in the world is the guy thinking. He did it enough in Tennessee to eventually get fired, and now in St. Louis it hasnt changed as much.

Fisher is now faced with another decision, should he start Austin Davis? The Rams are facing one tough schedule in the next few weeks. They will be visiting a tough Eagles team in Philadelphia, who just came off a miserable loss to the 49ers, and then host San Francisco on Monday Night Football. In week 7 the Rams host the Seahawks, and then travel to Kansas City, San Francisco and Arizona from Week 8 through Week 10.

So Fisher must decide who is best at handling this situation, a two-year veteran or 34 year-old journeyman Shaun Hill.

Pyro's take: I think Austin Davis deserves to be the starting quarterback, and if he has the back-bone to sustain getting beat-up, then the Rams should not look back. On the year Davis has been good, not great, as he has completed 72.3 percent of his passes for 754 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions to go along with a 93.1 QB rating this year.

Davis should get the opportunity to see how he handles a pass rush like San Francisco, or how he does against a defense like Seattle. How he handles playing in a hostile environment like Philadelphia, Seattle and Kansas City.

If Davis continues to be a starter, he can make a nice number three for your fantasy team.
