Bilal Powell

New York Jets

Best Buy

Matt Forte didn’t practice for the third straight day with knee swelling. There’s concern about him going forward.

Fire up all the Bilal Powell, and keep Elijah McGuire on your watch-list. Powell is $4000 on DK this week, I have him in all of my GPP line-ups.

Elijah McGuire

New York Jets

B-B-B-Bilal and the Jets!

Without Forte, it was time for someone to step up. Well, both McGuire and Powell fired up their Jet engines on Sunday. Powell finished with 21 attempts and 163 yards on the ground. McGuire racked up 93 yards on just 10 carries. Both backs scored a TD. McGuire kicked in an additional 38 receiving yards on 2 receptions, while Powell snagged 4 passes for 27 yards. Fantasy owners have been screaming about Powell's neglect since last season. Neither backs had been spectacular prior to this. McGuire averaged 4.8 on 13 attempts through 2 games. Powell averaged far worse with a middling 2.57 yards on 28 carries. If Forte remains sidelined, there is value to be had with Powell in 12/14 man leagues. If Forte's toe is on the mend, then the waters just seem muddied making cannibalism a likely outcome.

Powell Movement

Bilal Powell has proven to be a multidimensional and explosive back. He averaged 5.5 yards-per-carry last season, which was 2nd in the NFL. 58 catches on 78 targets provides your team with some added PPR burst as well.

Fantasy Goo: In 12-team PPR leagues at the moment Powell is the 27th ranked running back in fantasy football. Forte lingers, but Bilal will not fall victim to game flow as he is used in the passing game as well.

Forte Has Been Ruled Out: Week 16

Officially, Forte is out and Powell will be the man. Last week, B Powell lead all running backs with 12 targets.

Fantasy Goo: IT is quite possible Powell leads all RBs in targets again this week. The Jets travel to face the Patriots. This game opened up with the Patriots a 2 TD favorite and has only grown since. That game script is perfect for Powell coming out of the backfield. The Patriots give up the second most receiving yards to opposing backs.

Powell a Rumbling Running Back Option for Week 16

Powell passes the eye test, and finally, the Jets coaching staff opened theirs. He faces the Patriots. In last 3 weeks, only 6 teams allowing more FF Points on a per game basis to opposing RBs. Powell was targeted 12 times last week, that number lead all RBs. That number could actually increase as this game will call for the Jets to pass. This game opened with the highest spread of the week favoring the Patriots by two TDs.

Fantasy Goo: Patirots have allowed 4 TDs to RBs out of the backfield on the season and allowed a total of 656 passing yards to opposing backs; only 6 teams have allowed more passing yards to ball carriers.

Forte has Ribs/Knee pains

@RVacchianoSNY RB Matt Forte and LT Ryan Clady were limited at practice for the Jets today.

Fantasy Goo: Matt Forte is not a Spring chicken and those early season touches are possibly now evident in a not so good way. Bilal Powell would be a good waiver pickup for PPR leagues if you need RB help. Late last year Powell took much of Chris Ivory’s thunder and may be tossed into much more of the Jets game plan here on.

Jets Are Looking To Keep Veteran Running Back Matt Forte Rested This Season

The New York Post's Brian Costello reports the Jets will give Matt Forte "plenty of rest" this season.

Fantasy Goo: The Jets see Forte as their lead back, replacing Chris Ivory, but he is going to get plenty of rest in a rotation that includes Bilal Powell and Khiry Robinson.
The main question with Forte is how much tread he has left on the tire. He had a remarkable workload in Chicago. He leads the NFL in all-purpose yards (12,718) since he entered the league in 2008. Forte is now 30, which is seen by most as the point where running backs fall off the cliff. Forte is out to prove them wrong. This is not good news for Forte's fantasy value as he's currently being drafted as a top-15 running back.

Bilal Powell

New York Jets

Jets cannot live without Powell

The Jets let Powell know how they felt about him by signing him to a three-year, $11.25 million contract in free agency. Powell is one of the few holdovers left from the Mike Tannenbaum era. Powell’s ability to stick with the Jets through three general managers and four offensive coordinators shows how valued he is.

Fantasy Goo: This may sound like bullshit but after watching a ton of Jets games particularly at the end of 2015 I noticed how important Bilal is to the Jets. Powell was ranked tenth last year for running backs receiving pass targets with 5.73% per game. Powell caught 63 passes which beat out bigger named pass catching running backs such as Matt Forte, DeMarco Murray and Lamar Miller. Bilal also was able to carry the ball out of the backfield with a very nice 4.5 YPC. Matt forte is now a Jet and will receive his share of passes so, for now just keep track of Bilal Powell in case Matt Forte stumbles or gets banged up. Bilal will be a far greater PPR producer than standard league play.

Matt Forte didn’t practice for the third straight day with knee swelling. There’s concern about him going forward.

Fire up all the Bilal Powell, and keep Elijah McGuire on your watch-list. Powell is $4000 on DK this week, I have him in all of my GPP line-ups.

Fantasy Goo: Sproles has 12 targets and 12 catches in his last 3. Wentz is clearly building confidence in his pass-catching back. As far as Powell, in his last 3, he has a minimum of 6 catches and 40 receiving yards

Bilal Powell has proven to be a multidimensional and explosive back. He averaged 5.5 yards-per-carry last season, which was 2nd in the NFL. 58 catches on 78 targets provides your team with some added PPR burst as well.

Bilal Powell

New York Jets

Left Week 6 w Injury

B Pow left the game with an ankle injury (Week 6). That opened the door for Zac
Stacy. Still, this is a Beast East backfield, as Ivory had himself one heck of a day.
