Blake Bortles

Jacksonville Jaguars

Bortles Will Start Week 1

“Coach Doug Marrone decided this morning that Blake Bortles will get the call over Chad Henne, ending a one-week competition.”

Fantasy Goo: This basically makes them both undraftable, they could both serve as valuable streamers though. Bortles has been a top 10 fantasy QB in overall scoring the last two years, he’s just not a very good NFL QB.

Allen Robinson

Jacksonville Jaguars

They keep saying REGRESSION

On the Jaguars second drive of the game they were able to mix in the run and the pass. Allen Robinson made a pair of acrobatic catches that proved he’s already in mid-season form. Robinson finished the game with three catches for 80-yards.

Fantasy Goo: Not me folks. All the smarties are positive that the Jags passing attack will regress. The numbers point to it so, it must be true because the numbers never lie, right? I am not on board this ship. Blake Bortles had 35 passing and 2 rushing touchdowns in 2015. So, maybe he ends the season with 33 passing and 1 rushing touchdown. If so, then they win. People like to pound the table for something so I want to try it. I say Blake hits the exact numbers from 2015 in 2016. The Jags offense has a true rushing attack now with Yeldon and Ivory. The Jags running game will complement the offense but, not weaken the passing attack in my own opinion. Allen Robinson is an elite WR who has potential to be the best. Add Allen Hurns who is among my favorite side-kicks and a TE who should improve his numbers in Julius Thomas. The backups are going to surprise you all as well. I say the Jags F the league up in 2016 on offense.

Julius Thomas

Jacksonville Jaguars

Bortles and Thomas continued to look nearly unstoppable

Bortles and Thomas continued to look nearly unstoppable in organized team activities and mini-camp this month. Thomas scored 24 touchdowns in his final two seasons with the Broncos. He’ll get double-digit scores this season. This is where Bortles can gain ground on last year’s touchdown total.

Fantasy Goo: In 2016 fantasy mock drafts, Julius Thomas is currently going 11th tight end in 12 team leagues. This is important for fantasy owners who would love to focus on running backs and wide receivers with their earlier picks. You can kick back with your favorite beer or energy drink and without sweating, grab a quality tight end around the 100th player taken overall. You can focus on the real game changers early with this strategy. Bortles may not hit 35 passing touchdowns but 30 seem to be a sure thing. I believe both Blake and Julius can be fantasy playoff players since you will have top notch players at RB and WR if you take either.

Julius Thomas

Jacksonville Jaguars

“He never drops a ball”

“He never drops a ball,” Bortles said. “He’s got unbelievable hands. He’s continued to work on routes and we’re fine-tuning the stuff he does that he really likes.” Thomas has caught 29 touchdowns over the last three seasons. That leads all tight ends over that span, just ahead of Seattle’s Jimmy Graham (28) New England’s Rob Gronkowski (27). Thomas caught 12 touchdowns each during the 2013-14 seasons for Denver.

Fantasy Goo: Break out the champagne because Julius Thomas is going to the Hall of Fame, THIS year! Well, we will slow our expectations to a possible Pro Bowl and fantasy owners will take that. There is little to not like about the potential of Bortles and Thomas becoming a household name duo in the fantasy world. It hurts to say it because they are JAGS but, last year did happen and Bortles tossed 35 TDs. Health… that’s the key for Thomas.

Blake Bortles To Lead No Huddle Offense This Season

Offensive Coordinator Greg Olson believes that this is the natural progression of QB Blake Bortles career, who is entering his third year as Jacksonville's quarterback. Bortles will supposedly have total control of the offense on these plays.

This adds another layer of intensity to the offensive attack the Jags are likely to have this year. The plethora of weapons at his disposal with Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns and Marquis Lee at wideout and TE Julius Thomas, not to mention RB tandem of Ivory and Yeldon, Bortles should have plenty of opportunities to make 2016 a special year.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Jaguars have confirmed coach Gus Bradley will return for a fourth season in 2016.

“I spoke to Gus Bradley [Tuesday] to confirm to him that he will continue as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016. It’s evident to see how far we’ve come in many aspects of our game, and Gus deserves a lot of credit for that progress. It’s also evident the considerable work that remains to be done to be where we expect to be at this time next season, which is well above where we stand today. And Gus understands that.

“Dave Caldwell and I also spoke today and we are both confident that Gus will make 2016 the best year of his career. In the meantime, I expect his coaching staff and team to respond favorably to this news in preparation for Houston on Sunday and then begin thinking about what more they can provide next season. We have high ambitions.”

Blake Bortles looking to capture all Jacksonville Jaguars records

Quarterback Blake Bortles already owns the franchise record for touchdown passes in a single season, with 35, but he might not end his record-breaking season there. He needs just 179 passing yards to break Mark Brunell's single-season record of 4,367. -- Mike DiRocco

Blake Bortles

Jacksonville Jaguars

Bortles needs to be more aggressive

According to the Florida Times Union head coach Gus Bradley stated we to be a "Team that’s aggressive, takes chances,’’ Bradley said. “I don’t think I saw that right away in the beginning part of the game.’’

Blake Bortles averaged just 4.6 yards per attempt, and consistently was checking down to slot receiver Rashad Greene instead of pushing the ball downfield.

When he did throw deep he wasnt nearly accurate enough.

Expected to Play

Bortles is not fantasy worthy, and if your an owner of Bortles, most likely your season was over weeks ago. Strangely though he could have a nice day against the Titans, perhaps two touchdowns and 280 yards passing.

Blake Bortles

Jacksonville Jaguars

Taking it in Stride

Bortles is a rookie in transition, playing for a bad team. He is going to go through a lot of progressions, and by the time next season hits, he could be a valid quarterback to draft. At this time its best to leave him on the bench, or on the waiver wire.

Bortles off to a good start

The Jaguars have said that they are not going to rush Blake onto the field, and will be going with Chad Henne to start the season. There have been rumblings the organization would like to have him sit his rookie season and learn.

I have a feeling he is going to continue to show the coaching staff he has the stuff to be the starter, and deserves the chance. He is more of a Dynasty play at this point, but he should be the starter by November.

Quarterback Blake Bortles already owns the franchise record for touchdown passes in a single season, with 35, but he might not end his record-breaking season there. He needs just 179 passing yards to break Mark Brunell's single-season record of 4,367. -- Mike DiRocco

Bortles is not fantasy worthy, and if your an owner of Bortles, most likely your season was over weeks ago. Strangely though he could have a nice day against the Titans, perhaps two touchdowns and 280 yards passing.

I have a feeling he is going to continue to show the coaching staff he has the stuff to be the starter, and deserves the chance. He is more of a Dynasty play at this point, but he should be the starter by November.
