Fozzy to feel the Payne

CHARLOTTE – Fozzy Whittaker did well with 100 rushing yards against the San Francisco 49ers in place of injured running back Jonathan Stewart, but Cameron Artis-Payne, likely will serve as Carolina’s “feature back” Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

Pyro's take: CHARLOTTE – Fozzy Whittaker did well with 100 rushing yards against the San Francisco 49ers in place of injured running back Jonathan Stewart, but Cameron Artis-Payne, likely will serve as Carolina’s “feature back” Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Goo: First Fozzy now Cameron? If true all those waiver pickups of Fozzy will have been a waste. Cameron Artis-Payne is good enough to carry the load the rest of the season if needed. James Stewart gets hurt as often as anyone so, snag Cameron Artis-Payne now off of your waiver wire. It may be a bit risky until we get more assurance that Cameron is the guy but, I love risk. Sometimes taking a swing can net a home run... I mean touchdown!

Jonathan Stewart To Miss At Least A Week Or Two Due To Hamstring Injury

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera

Pyro's take: Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera told the media that RB Jonathan Stewart (hamstring) is expected to miss "at least a week or two" of football activities as a result of a hamstring injury suffered during Week two's matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. Cameron Artis-Payne and Fozzy Whitaker are expected to be part of the Panthers' RBBC Week three in place of injured RB Jonathan Stewart.

Fantasy Goo: It's to be determined what Artis-Payne's usage will be, with rumors varying from him seeing a majority of the work to others believing he'll simply be part of a very loaded committee approach with Fozzy Whitaker. Considering the tough opponent in Minnesota and the fact is that there's nothing clear about this timeshare Week 3. As of now Fozzy is worth a pickup considering Stewart could miss extended time, but owners should temper expectations this weekend.

Avoid Carolina RBs: Whittaker is Officially Getting the Start

f

Pyro's take: It was recently announced this morning (Sunday 12-20) that Whitaker will get the start. This is truly RB by community. Whittaker will get it between the 20's, mix in some CAP, and Tolbert most likely will get the redzone work. Plus, ther is always Superman, MR. Newton. I am looking to Denard Robinson, or even Bryce Brown if I am hurting at RB.

Ron Rivera confirmed the team will use a committee approach at running back

CAP

Pyro's take: Joe Person via Twitter "Rivera expects committee approach with RBs vs. Giants w/ Jonathan Stewart out. Tolbert, Fozzy and Artis-Payne all should get carries."

The dreaded RBBC nightmare, and not worth looking at in playoff situations.

Ron Rivera said Cameron Artis-Payne will "get his share of opportunities."

CAP

Pyro's take: "This is a big opportunity for Cameron," Rivera said. "He's going to get some opportunities for sure. I'm excited about it. It's one of those things where we said when the time's right and Jonathan needs a break [Artis-Payne will get an opportunity], but Jonathan just kept rolling and rolling.

"Now it's a great opportunity [to] have him up and see what he can do."
