The Dolphins have come out and stated that when the 2010 season starts, Chad Henne will be their starting QB.  That's some serious confidence in a guy who hasn't done a whole hell of a lot yet in his career.  He definitely has the potential as he's got a cannon for an arm and is a big boy standing at 6'3", 230 pounds, but we can't understand why Pennington is being dissed yet again.  What does that guy have to prove to gain some respect in this league?  Henne had a pretty good career while at the University of Michigan, but he's also the only Michigan QB ever to go 0-4 versus the Ohio State Buckeyes.  Does that mean he folds under pressure, or that he can't win the big game?  The Dolphins seem to have committed themselves to finding out those answers, but not for at least another year.

Handcuff

Tyler Thigpen is the likely handcuff to Henne this year, but we still can’t figure out why the all-time leader in completion %, Chad Pennington, continues to get slighted

Henne has just 17 NFL games under his belt, so yeah, he's good to go

Breaking News

based on PYRO OLINE rankings- MIA has the 16th best pass block, 49ers=27th, Lions=23rd, Ravens=20th... so Henne fairs best in that regard expand +

RT @Karnage_84: @TheBigZ17 Henne is a solid QB but he's no Marino. Owner has been smoking the hippie lettuce on that one. expand +

Henne to use full playbook on Sunday expand +

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said on Thursday that neither the play-calling nor the plays themselves will be altered in the slightest with Chad Henne under center instead of Pennington.

Pyro's Take:

Henne's arm strength changes the plays all on it's own. Look for more chances being taken down field with Ted Ginn Jr. from here on out, which gives a nice boost to Ginn's fantasy football worth.

Henne officially has new backup QB expand +

Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington (shoulder) was put on injured reserve Tuesday afternoon, thus ending his 2009 season.

Pyro's Take:

The move was made on the heels of the Tyler Thigpen trade as Miami needed to open a roster spot for their new backup QB. Neither Chad Henne or Thigpen should be on your fantasy football team at this point.

Henne to take over starting job in Miami expand +

Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington suffered a torn capsule in his throwing shoulder on Sunday and is likely done for the year. However, he is seeking a second opinion just to be sure.

Pyro's Take:

Chad hadn't been doing much this year for his 0-3 team, so it's just as well that strong-armed Chad Henne takes over the reins for the bottom-dwelling Dolphins. He might even be worth a pickup in fantasy leagues if you need a QB.

Henne strong in preseason opener expand +

Miami Dolphins QB Chad Henne looked strong and accurate in the Dolphins preseason game against the Jaguars Monday night. He ended up going 7 of 11 for 94 yards with a 33-yard TD and one interception despite the rain.

Pyro's Take:

Henne could have had two TDs on the evening, but Ricky Williams butterfingered the second one. His arm strength was as impressive as advertised, while his accuracy and in-game command were better than normal. If Henne keeps this up, current starting QB Chad Pennington might be forced out of the lineup before his contract runs up at the end of the year.

Dolphins' Henne to get big-time look on Monday expand +

Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano said that he wants 2nd-string QB Chad Henne to play the whole 2nd quarter with the first-team offensive line, as well as possibly the whole 3rd quarter as well.

Pyro's Take:

Henne, though talented as hell with a cannon for an arm, will still be arming the clipboard this year regardless of how much preseason time he gets. However, Sparano is doing the right thing in getting him as much time as he can now because Pennington, though still the better QB at this point, breaks down easier than Kirstie Alley in a chocolate factory.
