Charcandrick West

Spread The Fire

Both KC players are out

Pyro's take: With both Ware and Smith out, Charcandrick West is a huge chalk play in DFS at a very low price on all sites.

Fantasy Goo: Reid wants to run the ball and play D. Jacksonville has a schedule adjusted ranking of 24th against PPR backs.

JC on IR

Pyro's take: The Chiefs moved Jamaal to IR. Plus, Ware is going through concussion protocol.

Fantasy Goo: C West is a strong pickup off waivers. Even if Ware recovers for Week 9, without Charles in their future plans, West will have an increased role. This is power running game. In week 9, the have a powerfully positive game-script as they are home to the Jags and are 9 point favorites.

Another Start for Spencer Ware?

Andy Reid hinted Monday that Jamaal Charles is “getting closer” to a return.

Pyro's take: Andy Reid hinted Monday that Jamaal Charles is “getting closer” to a return. If that return does not happen this week, it appears Ware is primed to get most of the work as he picked up an eye-opening 71 percent of the snaps, compared to West’s 22 percent.

Fantasy Goo: Woohoo! Celebrate my Spencer Ware pals out there. We may have yet another week to steal playing time from Jamaal Charles. Simply watch the news reports closely and cross your fingers. Spencer has been very rewarding to his owners who spent a very late pick or snagged him early from the wire.

Jamall Out Again for Week 2

Pyro's take: Jamaal is out again in Week #2

Fantasy Goo: Even though Ware and West had a divided work load in week #1, Ware was the man. In the end, he was the 2nd highest scoring PPR back last week. His play should garner him more touches this week. The bottom line is the man is damn good.

Ware expected to Start Week 2

@Edwerderespn #Chiefs could give Jamaal Charles, recovering from ACL surgery, another week, per source.

Pyro's take: @Edwerderespn #Chiefs could give Jamaal Charles, recovering from ACL surgery, another week, per source. He's least healthy of 4 RB, esp Spencer Ware.

Fantasy Goo: Spencer Ware was a magnificent contributor for week 1. Charcandrick West had as many plays on the field but, Ware was the dominator. Jamaal Charles will probably sit week 2 so the team can see what Ware and West can do without Charles in there and so Charles can further heal. Once Charles does come back the distribution of carries will be tough to call. Charles will have to be himself again to fend off Spencer Ware who is hungry.

Looking Like It's Kansas City By Committee In Chiefs Backfield In Week One

Kansas City Chiefs

Pyro's take: Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told the media that the team will employ a by "committee" approach to their running game in Week 1 against the San Diego Chargers. Charcandrick West is listed as Kansas City's No. 2 back on the depth Chart behind Jamaal Charles (knee) who is doubtful to play, ahead of Spencer Ware, who is the favorite to start the contest and rounded off by Knile Davis. “Yeah, they’ll all play,” Reid said via KansasCity.com. “We’ll roll them in.” When asked if Ware would be the "first guy" on Sunday, Reid replied, “you could probably say that, yeah, but it depends on the personnel group so don’t hold me accountable."

Fantasy Goo: Week 1 approaches, it appears that Charles will not play against the Chargers. According to Andy Reid's words, it's looking like Ware will earn the start in the contest, but West and Davis will both garner touches in the season opener as well. For fantasy football purposes, this could be a difficult backfield to decipher. Ware should be considered the safer start in a favorable matchup against San Diego, however, don't sleep on West's value especially in PPR scoring formats.

Is there more to read into for Charles not ready to be in charge?

BJ KisselVerified account ‏@ChiefsReporter "I think it's a stretch for him to play on Sunday." ~ Andy Reid on RB Jamaal Charles.

Pyro's take: BJ KisselVerified account ‏@ChiefsReporter "I think it's a stretch for him to play on Sunday." ~ Andy Reid on RB Jamaal Charles.

Fantasy Goo: On December 11th of last year Jamaal Charles tore the ACL in his right knee during a Week 5 loss to Chicago which was the second season-ending knee injury of his eight-year NFL career. Personally, I believe that if Charles is not ready for week 1 that there may be little chance he is ready for week 2. He had all off season to be ready for week 1 and failed to be ready to roll. When Andy Reid is ready to put Charles in I would guess it would be slowly and a part of a stinky RBBC. If Spencer Ware comes out guns a blazing then Jamaal will have to produce ASAP. There may be a good bet to be made for Spencer Ware being the guy for 3 or 4 weeks. You must pick Spencer Ware off your waiver wire if you need any help at RB. Charcandrick West would need Spencer Ware to miss time to have value any time soon.

Jamaal Charles Could Miss Season Opener

Kansas City Chiefs

Pyro's take: Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told the media that RB Jamaal Charles (knee) "could sit out Week 1, but did not rule him out" of the season opener. "I think Jamaal is going to need a little time to keep working to get himself back," Reid said via ESPN. "We'll see how he does after a couple of days off." NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Chiefs were "planning" to employ a "by committee approach in case" Charles misses the contest.

Fantasy Goo: It appears that the Chiefs will wait to make a decision on Charles' status for Week 1. Reid did not rule the former Pro Bowl rusher out of the contest, but it does not look promising for him to play in the opener. In case Charles does, in fact, sit out, Spencer Ware will start in his place, but Charcandrick West could be featured in a pass-catching role out of the backfield.

It's Spencer Ware Who Seems To Be The Primary Backup RB In Kansas City

ESPN's Mike Clay

Pyro's take: ESPN's Mike Clay is suggesting that Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware should be considered the primary backup to Jamaal Charles in 2016. The insider later added that if Charles was to be sidelined to injury as he was in 2015, that both Ware and Charcandrick West would both see an increase in playing time.

Fantasy Goo: In what is considered as a surprise to most, Spencer Ware is rumored to be the primary backup to Jamaal Charles rather than the assumed Charcandrick West. Ware had a stellar campaign in 2015 while sharing time with West. He rushed for 403 yards and six touchdowns. If these reports hold true and Ware is, in fact, the No. 2 running back in Kansas City, he should be selected in the upcoming fantasy drafts ahead of West as Charles' handcuff.
But as always keep your eye on this scenario throughout camp and preseason.

Charcandrick West will practice today and is full go.

Pyro's take: Terez A. Paylor via Twitter "Charcandrick West will practice today and is full go."

It looks very promising that West will be able to play on Sunday against the Raiders.

Ware Gets the Go in Week 12

Pyro's take: Ware wil get the start today. West will sit. Ware should have an easier day than expected both of the Williams boys will not play today for the Bills defense. They anchor the defensive line as DE and DT, so without them, it could give KC's runner an extra edge to get going.

Spencer Ware to be C. West replacement if he is out for Sunday

Pyro's take: The Chiefs have confidence in Spencer Ware, who could replace the injured Charcandrick West as the featured back this week against the Bills, as a goal-line runner. Ware has 17 carries this season, fifth on the Chiefs, but is tied for second in rushing touchdowns with three. At 229 pounds, Ware is much bigger and a more physical runner than West. -- Adam Teicher

Great Play on DK in Week 11

Pyro's take: West is only $4500 on Draft Kings in Week 11. West has racked up 16 targets and 66 carries in the last 3 games. In that time he has crossed the paint 4 times, including 1 receiving and 1 rushing last week. This week, he faces San Diego. The Chargers have allowed 9 differen t RBs to put up double-digits on them, including Langford who hung 20 on them last week.

11/21/15, 05:28 PM CST by PyromaniacMo

Charcandrick West rushed 24 times for 69 yards and a touchdown adding three receptions for 92 yards and an additional score.

Pyro's take: He really couldnt get much going against the defense of the Denver Broncos, but his 80-yard touchdown made up for all the difference. He also had a touchdown on the Chiefs opening drive. He should find more holes against the San Diego Chargers, and their Swiss cheese of an defense.

West ready to roll against Detroit

Pyro's take: Charcandrick West’s 110-yard, one-touchdown game last week against the Steelers didn’t just increase the Chiefs’ confidence in him. It also increased his confidence going into Sunday’s game against the Lions. He’s taken to writing his goals for the upcoming game on a piece of paper, and asked what he would write this week, West replied, “Two hundred yards and three touchdowns.’’ -- Adam Teicher

Charcandrick West is listed on the Week 8 injury report with a pectoral issue, but is practicing in full.

Pyro's take: Charcandrick West got a full load last week and I dont expect anything different this week. He is worthy of a flex or high end number two running back against the Lions.

Andy Reid said he views Charcandrick West as a better fit than Knile Davis for the Chiefs offense.

Pyro's take: Andy Reid explained why he feels West is the better option to replace Jamaal Charles in the lineup over Knile Davis.

“The things that we’ve been doing, we feel pretty good with what Charcandrick (West) is doing and Knile working in on some other things,” Reid said. “So we’re not down on Knile by any means. That’s not where we’re at with it. Just with some of the things we’re doing right now, Charcandrick kind of fits that.”

“It’s more the play and giving those young guys an opportunity to run that same play over and over again. Right now they fit a little bit more into what Charcandrick does.

“Knile plays a power game, one cut, downhill. It’s just a little different style, which is effective and has been effective.”

Andy Reid expects to go with a committee at running back in the absence of Jamaal Charles.

Pyro's take: Andy Reid wants the committee approach in the backfield, but how much time is really going to be split up? Kniles Davis not real effective when getting small reps, and Chancandrick West has surpassed him on the depth chart.

"Knile’s had some big games for us here when he’s been called on," Reid said. Davis will begin as a power change-of-pace back who could get goal-line looks.
