Walford Still Sitting Out

Walford

Pyro's take: Clive Walford lacerated his knee in an ATV accident earlier this year. He is still on track to resume practice the middle of training camp.

Fantasy Goo: Walford is coming into his second year. He was a standout tight end from the University of Miami. Walford started coming together in the last 5 weeks he averaged 3 receptions and 35 yards a game. With respect to his position, he was top of his class in draft prospects. Carr is developing into his own and Walford could get an uptick in receptions. Walford is a sleeper for Pyro.

Jack Del Rio said the Raiders envision rookie Clive Walford as a "complete" tight end.

CW

Pyro's take: Walford (6-foot-4, 250 pounds) is seen as a combination of both a catching and a blocking tight end, whereas the coaching staff sees Mychal Rivera and Lee Smith, respectively, as one or the other.

Walford is “a good-size guy that is a very capable blocker, who is also a guy who has the athleticism to be a threat as a route runner,” Del Rio said. “So when you combine those things, you feel like he’s got a lot of upside in terms of being a complete tight end, a guy who can do a little bit of both.”
