David Garrard is like Mount Rushmore. It's impressive the first time you see it, but every year when you go back it seems like nothing changed. In fact, it might seem like it deteriorated in some aspects. Garrard’s stats from 2008 might as well have been slotted into the 2009 books before the season ever started because not a single category that matters changed in the slightest. Never mind that he had one of the best running backs in the league behind him in Maurice Jones-Drew, and never mind that he had one of the best up-and-coming receivers lining up on the outside for him in Mike Sims-Walker; still, nothing changed. Garrard proved himself to be a mediocre quarterback at best in 2009, and the likelihood of him ever rising above that assessment in the future, especially at the age of 32, is slim to none.
