Patriots RB's boom or bust on TNF

James White is 6th among all running backs with 22 receptions through 4 games. He amassed 10 receptions last game alone, but only managed to gain 47 yards through the air, with 7 yards coming on his lone carry for the game and was kept out of the end-zone. White will likely be matched up against LB Kendell Beckwith who earned an 86.4 overall grade on coverage skills through 4 weeks which is 7th among all eligible LB’s. (per Andrew Fleischer, Pro Football Focus) White has been a weekly start for fantasy owners, but with so many pass catchers on this team and the tough coverage he faces, it’s difficult to project if he will gain the individual stats to justify a roster spot.

Lewis Looks to be a Go in week 10

Dion Lewis is set to return. I am grabbing him if available, but probably not inserting him into my line-up until he knocks off the rust.

Fantasy Goo: This is a hard one to read. Lewis returns from injury so they could ease him back. What is undeniable is White's lack of usage these last 2 weeks. In Weeks 6 and 7, he had a combined 27 looks. In the last 2 weeks, he managed just 12. While I am in a holding pattern with Lewis, I am fading White in week 10

Guess Who's Back? Brady’s Back, Back Again And He Doesn't Skip A Beat As He Gets The Patriots Offense Into High Gear

Tom Brady completed 28-of-40 passes for 406 yards and three touchdowns in New England's Week 5 win over the Browns.

Fantasy Goo: Brady showed no rust in his return and was in sync with the offense. The veteran QB was able to spread the ball around to multiple receivers, completing passes to seven different players. He looks like he is in midseason form.

Rob Gronkowski caught 5-of-7 targets for 109 yards. Although he did not score, he did provide his owners with confidence that the real Gronk is back and ready to roll for the remainder of the 2016 season.

Martellus Bennett caught 6-of-8 targets for 67 yards and three TD's. The Black Unicorn wasted no time showing Brady he is here in New England to produce. Bennett made the most of each target scoring three touchdowns on six receptions. Adding yet another option in this high powered offense look for Bennett to continue to provide another option for fantasy owners weekly.

Chris Hogan caught 4-of-5 targets for 114 yards.Seven-Eleven lead the Patriots in yardage on Sunday despite only getting five targets. It looks like he may become Tom's deep ball threat in the offense and the two were able to connect on two long passes of 43 and 63 yards. If the connection can continue then he is someone to target in fantasy leagues.

Julian Edelman caught five of 10 passes for 35 yards. Expect the double-digit targets to continue for Edelman as he is Brady's favorite receiver and the production should increase as well.

James White rushed five times for 26 yards and added four receptions for 63 additional yards. White was utilized as the third-down back for the Patriots this role has extra value when Tom Brady is QB as he likes to use his running backs in the passing game and there will be weeks that White may lead the team in targets coming out of the backfield it is safe to say he should have solid value in PPR formats.

Danny Amendola caught 2-of-2 targets for 11 yards he is listed as the WR3 but falls behind fellow receivers Julain Edelman and Chris Hogan as well as tight ends Martellus Bennett and Rob Gronkowski in the pecking order for targets. There is not much to go around for Amendola and he is not a fantasy option unless an injury occurs.

LeGarrette Blount rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. An early touchdown helped fantasy owners. Expect a similiar workload for Blount going forward and he will be the goal line back which will help to increase his value.

James White To Hold Down Pass Catching Duties Out Of Patriots Backfield

ESPN New England Patriots reporter Mike Reiss believes Bill Belichick will place Dion Lewis on PUP to open the season. If this does occur then Lewis will miss at least the first six games of the season and James White will fill in like he did last season. Now that the Patriots know Lewis will need a second surgery, look for Jimmy Garoppolo to build more chemistry with White these last two games of the preseason.

Fantasy Goo: Lewis tore his ACL in Week 9 and from Week 10-17 as the primary receiving back, White finished as the RB7 in PPR leagues. White's ADP should rise to the middle rounds in drafts as he should be going as a solid RB2 in PPR format.

Dion Lewis Needs A Second Surgery

New England RB Dion Lewis will undergo a cleanup procedure on his knee, leaving him out for an indefinite period. Lewis tore his ACL in November and is a good candidate to start the season on the PUP list.

Fantasy Goo: Tough blow for the Patriots as they are missing Tom Brady for the first four games and now Lewis is likely to be out for the first six weeks. LeGarrette Blount was already expected to take on a heavy role in the backfield. Expect James White to take over the receiving back role in New England, making him worth a late-round pick on most drafts. Lewis is only draftable in the final round of deep leagues at this point due to the uncertainty around his health.

James White played considerably more snaps than Brandon Bolden

According to Ben Volin via Twitter "James White played 28-of-73 snaps Week 10 against the Giants."

LeGarrette Blount is the main back, but it does appear White will be the primary third-down back moving forward. That makes him a stash in deeper leagues.

James White could factor in within the passing game

Due to Dion Lewis being our for the season Mike Reiss has stated that James White could possibly be the next passing back to step up.

"James White, a 2014 fourth-round draft choice out of Wisconsin, is the top candidate for an expanded role. White was a healthy scratch Sunday, but he was the top option when Lewis was sidelined in the team's Oct. 25 win over the New York Jets, playing a season-high 43 snaps in that game. Bill Belichick has expressed his confidence in 5-foot-10, 205-pound White being able to handle the role."

White turning heads in New England

This is not a total to surprise to us, as Bill Belichick will always go with the hot hand, and turnovers are the main deciding factor in his mind. Stevan Ridley is a fumbler, and that is not going to change, which is why James White is getting such an extensive look.

White comes from Wisconsin, where he was a standout. The reason he did not get a lot of attention in college was because he played behind Montee Ball for three seasons, but was always productive. Now he is getting his chance, and looks to have a chance to make an impact as a rookie. Move him up your tiers.

Now he is getting his chance, and looks to have a chance to make an impact as a rookie. Move him up your tiers.

New England RB Dion Lewis will undergo a cleanup procedure on his knee, leaving him out for an indefinite period. Lewis tore his ACL in November and is a good candidate to start the season on the PUP list.

LeGarrette Blount was already expected to take on a heavy role in the backfield. Expect James White to take over the receiving back role in New England, making him worth a late-round pick on most drafts. Lewis is only draftable in the final round of deep leagues at this point due to the uncertainty around his health.
