Joe Mixon

Cincinnati Bengals

Over the Hill

Bengals place Jeremy Hill (ankle) on IR.
Joe Mixon played on a season-high 73% of snaps and handled 94% of Bengals RB carries in Week 9 without Hill. Cincinnati OL remains a massive disaster, though, they are 31st in adjusted OL Yards and bottom-5 in PFF’s yards before first contact per RB attempt.

Volume is key as far as fantasy goes, but let’s take a week before we put Mixon in our starting line-ups. He hasn’t been able to more than 3.5 yards per carry in any game that he’s ha more than 10 carries, and Cincy is playing away, at Tennessee this week, so I expect a negative game script and probably more Gio Bernard.

Cincinnati Bengals

New OC Looks for New Weapons

"The Bengals have numerous issues to sort through under new offensive coordinator Bill Lazor, who takes over for the fired Ken Zampese this week. Expect rookie running back Joe Mixon to be one of the primary beneficiaries of the coaching change."

Fantasy Goo: Besides AJ Green, Mixon is the only Bengal I’d want to own at this point. We might end up being a week late, but I’m not starting Mixon yet. They’ve had 10 days to prep for this game, but I think it’s going to be a few more weeks before this offensive line starts to come together and gel.

Jeremy Hill

Cincinnati Bengals

Running back by community for Bengals?

Joe Mixon actually led the Bengals with 8 rushing attempts and 3 passing targets in week 1. Problem is on those 8 carries he gained 9 yards for 1.1 per tote. He had the 2nd most total snaps on offense with 22 (36% of offensive snaps). Meaning when he was on the field, they were going to him half the time.

Giovani Bernard led the team with 29 snaps (48%), maybe because they were down for the entire game and he's their 3rd down back. Gio had the best running play for 23 yards and the longest catch as well with a 39-yard catch and run. Gio looked the best of the lot in Week 1, but was that situational?

Jeremy Hill looked like shit. Only on the field for 10 plays (16%) and didn't do much with his lake of opportunities. Looks like Hill is nothing more than a power game runner that has to score a red zone TD to do anything for your team.

Joe Mixon

Cincinnati Bengals

Hill 1, Gio 2, Mixon 3, For Now

With the first preseason game on Friday, the Bengals released their 1st depth chart of 2017. In a surprise to some they have Hill as the RB1, Bernard as the RB2, and Mixon among the RB3’s.

Fantasy Goo:It won’t be long before Hill and Mixon get flipped on this list. I think every team has upside-down depth charts for trade bait at this point in the preseason. Hill and Bernard are still worth drafting in round 12 or later, they could hold on to their roles for the first half of the season, but Mixon will take over before long.

Curtis Samuel

Carolina Panthers

#ExplosionFactor Rookies

The 3 most explosive running backs from the 2017 NFL Draft based on “breakaway percentage,” which is the percentage of rushing yards earned on plays 15 yards or more are: Joe Mixon (Bengals) scored a 57.3 percent, Curtis Samuel (Panthers) had 53.8 percent and Marlon Mack (Colts) had a carry of 15+ yards on 52.3 percent of his carries last season in college.

Fantasy Goo: You know we love explosive players here at Pyro, and these 3 players fit the bill. We never like to end up with too many rookies on our rosters but Marlon Mack and recently turned to wideout Curtis Samuel are going in the teens in fantasy football drafts at the moment. Worth the ADP in my opinion. If you love Mixon, go for it, but it'll cost you if he's a backup his rookie season behind Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard. #ExplosionFactor

Joe Mixon Leave Practice With Foot Injury

Mixon had to be removed from practice due to a foot injury that had him gingerly walking before being taken off in a cart.

Fantasy Goo: With reports coming out that Hill still owns the starting spot and Gio ahead of schedule with his ACL recovery the last thing Mixon truthers want is an injury. Could delay Mixon's ability to earn a bigger workload in the early states of the season.

Unfortunately, everyone believed that the Bengals would be a fit for Mixon, due to his character concerns. These people were correct, now his every move will be heavily scrutinized.

Fantasy Goo: Mixon becomes the best RB on the Bengal immediately. Gio Bernard is rehabbing from ACL surgery and Jeremy Hill has been disappointing in the last couple years. If Mixon behaves he should quickly take over this backfield.

Fantasy Goo: Mixon becomes the best RB on the Bengal immediately. Gio Bernard is rehabbing from ACL surgery and Jeremy Hill has been disappointing in the last couple years. If Mixon behaves he should quickly take over this backfield.

Joe Mixon
