2010 Fantasy Outlook

A couple of us here at PYRO may be the Debbie Downers of Beardom right now, but even we are finding it hard not to like Johnny Knox.  Nevertheless, the idea that Martz is going to make this a great offense, particularly in Year 1, is laughable.  Knox could possibly end up with team leading numbers this season, but the question is whether those numbers are worth your pick/auction dollars.  Weʼll say that Knox will take a small step forward in 2010 and finish somewhere around 60 catches, 800 yards and 6 TDs.  However, this is a bit of a conservative prediction because Knox really is a very nice young WR.

The 2009 Abilene Bears

Abilene Christian is a small, Division-II university 3 hours west of Dallas.  It has an enrollment of about 4,700 people, yet out of those 4,700, two of them were selected in the 2009 NFL Draft.  That was more than D-I powerhouses Notre Dame, Tennessee, Florida State and UCLA had.  One of those players was Johnny Knox, the other was Bernard Scott (RB Bengals).  In fact, out of the 3 Abilene Christian players currently in the NFL, 2 are on the Bears - Knox and safety Danieal Manning.  What’s up with the Bears love affair with Abilene?  If they get any more players out of that school, the team might have to change uniforms...
