Edelman is a real nice handcuff to have if you own Wes Welker, as he would likely step in and put up some big numbers should something happen to The Slot Machine

Injury Report

Edelman has no injuries to speak of. Carry on

Banking on Bray's Number 1 Man

Pyro's take: Edelman is only $6,400 on Draft Kings and just $400 more on Fan Duel. The Pats are motivated as they are trying to clinch homefield. Not only that, they have an implied team total just over 27 pts.

Fantasy Goo:
• Miami has given up the 9th most FF Pts to WRs over the last 5 weeks
• In the last 6 weeks, they have allowed 8 WRs to go for double-digit fantasy days
• Edelman has been far and away the best WR on the Pats in the last 5 weeks
• 58 targets, 34 receptions and 421 yards in that time, that is more than double the next best Patriot WR in both targets and yards

Brady, Edelman, Bennett and Hogan All IN

Pyro's take: All of these questionable Patriots will be active today. And as you already know Gronk has headed to IR.

Fantasy Goo: Play the Pats as you normally would. Brady and Edelman are must starts and the rest are flex worthy.

Guess Who's Back? Brady’s Back, Back Again And He Doesn't Skip A Beat As He Gets The Patriots Offense Into High Gear

Pyro's take: Tom Brady completed 28-of-40 passes for 406 yards and three touchdowns in New England's Week 5 win over the Browns.

Fantasy Goo: Brady showed no rust in his return and was in sync with the offense. The veteran QB was able to spread the ball around to multiple receivers, completing passes to seven different players. He looks like he is in midseason form.

Rob Gronkowski caught 5-of-7 targets for 109 yards. Although he did not score, he did provide his owners with confidence that the real Gronk is back and ready to roll for the remainder of the 2016 season.

Martellus Bennett caught 6-of-8 targets for 67 yards and three TD's. The Black Unicorn wasted no time showing Brady he is here in New England to produce. Bennett made the most of each target scoring three touchdowns on six receptions. Adding yet another option in this high powered offense look for Bennett to continue to provide another option for fantasy owners weekly.

Chris Hogan caught 4-of-5 targets for 114 yards. Seven-Eleven lead the Patriots in yardage on Sunday despite only getting five targets. It looks like he may become Tom's deep ball threat in the offense and the two were able to connect on two long passes of 43 and 63 yards. If the connection can continue then he is someone to target in fantasy leagues.

Julian Edelman caught five of 10 passes for 35 yards. Expect the double-digit targets to continue for Edelman as he is Brady's favorite receiver and the production should increase as well.

James White rushed five times for 26 yards and added four receptions for 63 additional yards. White was utilized as the third-down back for the Patriots this role has extra value when Tom Brady is QB as he likes to use his running backs in the passing game and there will be weeks that White may lead the team in targets coming out of the backfield it is safe to say he should have solid value in PPR formats.

Danny Amendola caught 2-of-2 targets for 11 yards he is listed as the WR3 but falls behind fellow receivers Julain Edelman and Chris Hogan as well as tight ends Martellus Bennett and Rob Gronkowski in the pecking order for targets. There is not much to go around for Amendola and he is not a fantasy option unless an injury occurs.

LeGarrette Blount rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. An early touchdown helped fantasy owners. Expect a similiar workload for Blount going forward and he will be the goal line back which will help to increase his value.

Julian Edelman caught 7-of-13 targets for 53 yards

Pyro's take: Like the rest of the Patriots offense Edelman was held in check for the most part of the day. He only averaged little over 7 yards per catch.

Amendola and Edelman Both Out; Edelman QUESTIONABLE

Pyro's take: The two lead WRs are both out for Week 16. Even LaFell is listed as questionable bumping up Martin who is 4th on the depth chart as well as newly acquired Hankerson, who is listed as 5th. Thus both Hankerson and Martin are essentially starters

Julian Edelman (foot) is listed as doubtful for Week 15

Pyro's take: This opens up the door once again for Danny Amendola to act as the #1 WR out of the slot, and he shouldn't be downgraded much (if at all) with a healthy Rob Gronkowski back in the fold. He'll remain an option in any format with Edelman out, and figures to draw the coverage of Coty Sensabaugh in the slot, who has graded out very poorly in coverage (per PFF). He's an especially strong target in full point PPR formats.--RotoGrinders

Julian Edelman (foot) will have surgery

Pyro's take: According to Adam Schefter via Twitter "Julian Edelman will undergo surgery Monday for a broken bone in his foot, per source. There is hope he will return this season, per sources."

He can be dropped from all redraft leagues. Danny Amendola now becomes the hot commodity.

Julian Edelman (knee) is probable for Week 10 against the Giants.

Pyro's take: He was at a full practice for Friday. He should be a starter in all formats, and is up against a weak New York Giants defense.

Julian Edelman caught 7-of-9 targets for 81 yards and two touchdowns

Pyro's take: Julian Edelman looked as though he had no problems with the broken finger this week, as caught seven passes and two touchdowns.

He should be a mainstay in your lineup as he his a solid pass catcher and the Patriots have a super strong offense.

Edelman's name not listed on injury report

Pyro's take: Julian Edelman either has gone missing or his injury has, because there is no mentioning of his injury anywhere. Edelman hasnt been seen all camp or preseason with an ankle issue.

Looks as though Brady will have his number one weapon after all and somewhere in the background I can hear Peaches and Herb singing "Reunited and Feels so Good"

Full Pads

Julian Edelman was in full-pads today at practice. According to Michael Whitmer via Twitter "Perfect attendance at Patriots full-pads practice, which is inside Gillette. That includes Edelman"

Pyro's take: Good news for Patriots, fans, and fantasy owners. The Pats have the one seed, but will still like to win, to keep the momentum fresh. Look for Bill Belichick to keep his old fashion "kick your ass" program going, even if this game is meaningless.

Edelman Out for Sunday

According to Jeff Howe via twitter "Julian Edelman (concussion, thigh) did not travel with the Patriots today and will not play tomorrow vs. the Jets, according to two sources."

Pyro's take: Looks like they will be without one receiver and one running back against the Jets, they may want to stop handicapping themselves in this game. More targets for Gronkowski and Brandon LaFell, also Danny Amendola may be intriguing if you are hurting at the wide receiver spot.

Belichick compares Edelman to Tedy Bruschi

"I think Julian's career compares to players like Tedy Bruschi, who played one position in college that was — I would say — pretty unrelated to the position that he played professionally," Belichick said on a conference call on Saturday. "Tedy went from a defensive tackle always in a three-point stance, never in coverage, to playing on his feet, playing middle linebacker, and playing a majority of the game in coverage. Julian was a quarterback that never returned kicks, and now, can return punts and plays receiver."

Edelman had the best receiving season of his career last year, totaling 105 catches for 1,056 yards and six touchdowns. He also returned a career-high 35 punts for 374 yards. His average of 12.3 yards per punt return is the highest among active players and the fourth-highest all-time.

He also set a Patriots franchise record with a 94-yard punt return in the season finale against the Miami Dolphins in 2010, his second year in the NFL.

"Julian's worked extremely hard. I would say he's developed skills in two areas — punt return and receiver — that he didn't have any experience at," Belichick said. "That's not an easy thing to do at all. You've got to give a lot of credit to the amount of work and dedication and training that he's put into that."

Pyro's take: Belichick loves players like Edelman, and Julian has done nothing this preseason to alter his feelings. In their third preseason game Edelman had eight receptions for 99 yards. He is Brady's favorite target, and is going to improve on his yardage numbers from last season, while still being a major PPR threat.

Edelman gets boost from Darrelle Revis

Edelman put up astounding numbers last season, he had 105 receptions on 151 targets, posted 1,056 yards receiving, 6 TDs, and he also had over 300 punt return yards. Now, those numbers aren’t as good as Welker’s best season with the Pats, where he put up 123 receptions, 1,348 yards and 4 TDs in just 14 games. But Edelman has something that Welker never had during his stay in New England: Darrelle Revis.

With the Patriots adding Revis to their defense, Edelman gets to go up against the leagues BEST corner all the time during practice. By facing Revis on a regular basis, Edelman will get better; he has to if he ever wants to make any catches in practice. This offseason has been filled with Edelman making all kinds of circus catches and looking like the best receiver on the field. This continuous ascension into super stardom started last year, but Revis will put Edelman in with Victor Cruz, and Wes Welker (2 of the premier slot receivers in the league). But Edelman is more than just a slot receiver; he spent the majority of his time last year on the outside.

Pyro's take: Edelman has been a favorite of d-Rx for a long time, and he proved it last year. This season he is still being drafted as a value, and one that you should be paying attention to.

Darrelle Revis will make Edelman better, not to mention he still has Tom Brady throwing him the ball. Brady trusts him more than any other receiver on the team, and Gronk is still not an option yet. Julian will a fantasy factor, and he will also be a consistent source of points. If he falls in your draft, and he will, grab him.

Edelman remains a Patriot

Julian Edelman will remain a New England Patriot after signing an undisclosed deal yesterday. Edelman was a key component in the Patriots offense even though he missed time with an injury. He had his career year in 2013 by having 105 receptions for 1,056 yards and six touchdowns — all career highs. In his five year career, Edelman has caught 174 passes for 1,770 yards and 10 touchdowns while returning three punts for a touchdown.

Pyro's take: The last thing Tom Brady wanted to happen was to lose another top performing wide out, especially after losing Wes Welker to the Denver Broncos last year. The Patriots did bring in Danny Amendola to help ease that loss, but Amendola underperformed and was injured for most of 2013. This has to ease the pressure of Brady, as he retains his go-to-receiver, and Edelman should continue to develop as the number one wide receiver.

Edelman will be an interesting free agent target

Mike Reiss suggests the Houston Texans could be a potential landing spot for Patriots impending free agent WR Julian Edelman.

"As for Julian Edelman’s potential market, it makes sense to think it will be close to Danny Amendola range after Edelman's 105-catch season," adds Reiss. "If that’s the case, the Patriots could absorb it but I think they would ultimately decide not to."

Pyro's take: If Edelman ends up signing with another team, his fantasy value will take a dip. The Patriots have been renowned, since Tom Brady has been quarterback, for targeting the slot receiver the most in the offense.

All you have to do is look at Wes Welker and the drop off he sustained this season after leaving the Patriots. Welker had 118 catches with Brady, and only 73 catches with Peyton Manning. Julian had a breakout season this year, but if he ends up leaving you can expect him to fall well short of the 105 catches he had this season.

Edelman's 105 catches doesn't tell the whole story

After compiling a total of 69 receptions through his first four NFL seasons, Julian Edelman broke out for 105 catches in 2013 - good for fourth in the league behind only Pierre Garcon (113), Antonio Brown (110) and Andre Johnson (109).

However, Edelman was only able to amass 1,056 yards with those 105 catches, which would end up ranking him all the way down at 21st in the league.

Pyro's take: Another little unknown fact is that of the 79 different 100-catch seasons during the Super Bowl era (1966-2013), Edelman's 1,056 yards was the fourth-fewest total of the 79 and the absolute fewest by a wide receiver (TE Jason Witten - 1,039 yds; FB Larry Centers - 962 yds; RB LaDainian Tomlinson - 725 yds).

Basically, if the New England Patriots are able to re-sign him, fantasy owners could target Julian as a WR2 in PPR leagues, but probably shouldn't be thought of as more than a WR3 with upside in standard scoring leagues.

Edelman looking to prove Broncos safety Mike Adams wrong

New England Patriots safety Steve Gregory has his teammate’s back.

Denver Broncos safety Mike Adams said Monday that Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman doesn’t have Broncos wideout Wes Welker‘s “ability or quickness” and that he’s a “one-speed guy.”

Gregory disagrees with Adams’ assessment.

“I think Julian has all types of speeds,” Gregory told MassLive.com. “Julian’s just like … he’s a heck of a football player. You’ve seen his production that he’s had this year.

“His quickness, his top-end speed, his ability to go deep, his ability to go short, screen plays. He can do a lot at his position. The other thing with Julian is that he’s a tough guy as well. He’s a football player before he’s a receiver, and you see that with a lot of things he does out on the field on Sundays.”

Edelman has done a nice job replacing Welker this season. The fifth-year pro had 105 catches for 1,056 yards and six touchdowns. Edelman will go against Adams on Sunday in the AFC Championship Game.

Pyro's take: I am surprised that Adams wants to come out and talk smack about Edelman. In their last meeting he only had nine catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns.

The Broncos secondary has not been great this season, and if the Patriots are able to establish a running game Edelman and his fellow receivers could benefit by the play-action pass. Julian is the number one option in the passing game for Tom Brady, and his ability to get open in the slot should provide nice stats when it is all said and done.
