Orange Julius Coming Soon In Miami

Pyro's take: Julius Thomas is projected to be traded to the Dolphins for a 2017 round 7 pick. Pending a physical he will be a Fin in '17.

Fantasy Goo: Julius Thomas produced 24 touchdowns in 27 games under Adam Gase. Don't expect numbers to be this consistent, but Thomas has shown the ability to produce multiple TD games and can win you a couple weeks. Also, he is a great option in MFL10 or other best ball leagues.

Jags Down Three Offensive Weapons for week 14 - 2016

Pyro's take: As if playing the Vikings with the lowest expected over/under of the week was not tough enough (just ask the Fabulous Thunderbirds), but now the Jags will be without three key starters.

Fantasy Goo: Without JT, Hurns, and Robinson, three key players, in any other situation, I would look to get some shares of the remaining players. But Bortles leads the league in INTs, nobody is scared of their ground game, and the Vikings are just too difficult to play against. Make other arrangements if needed.

Orange Julius to Sit Out Week 12

Pyro's take: It's official, Julius Thomas is indeed out this week against the Bills.

Fantasy Goo: While there are plenty of TEs in the proverbial sea, I think this also adds to the allure of Marqise Lee. In 5 of his 6 games since their bye, he has eclipsed 50 yards. In the last five weeks, Buffalo has given up 6 WR TDs and allowed the 4th most FF Points to opposing QBs. Lee is likely available on waivers. He is strictly a matchup play, at least at this point.

Jaguars TNF Injuries

Pyro's take: Jaguars:

Notables-

Julius Thomas, TE, is the only fantasy relevant player with injury concerns for the Jags tonight with an ankle injury. He probably will play tonight, logging limited action at practice on Wednesday, but is having a tough 2016 to date.

Bortles and Thomas continued to look nearly unstoppable

Bortles and Thomas continued to look nearly unstoppable in organized team activities and mini-camp this month. Thomas scored 24 touchdowns in his final two seasons with the Broncos.

Pyro's take: Bortles and Thomas continued to look nearly unstoppable in organized team activities and mini-camp this month. Thomas scored 24 touchdowns in his final two seasons with the Broncos. He’ll get double-digit scores this season. This is where Bortles can gain ground on last year’s touchdown total.

Fantasy Goo: In 2016 fantasy mock drafts, Julius Thomas is currently going 11th tight end in 12 team leagues. This is important for fantasy owners who would love to focus on running backs and wide receivers with their earlier picks. You can kick back with your favorite beer or energy drink and without sweating, grab a quality tight end around the 100th player taken overall. You can focus on the real game changers early with this strategy. Bortles may not hit 35 passing touchdowns but 30 seem to be a sure thing. I believe both Blake and Julius can be fantasy playoff players since you will have top notch players at RB and WR if you take either.

“He never drops a ball”

“He never drops a ball,” Bortles said.

Pyro's take: “He never drops a ball,” Bortles said. “He’s got unbelievable hands. He’s continued to work on routes and we’re fine-tuning the stuff he does that he really likes.” Thomas has caught 29 touchdowns over the last three seasons. That leads all tight ends over that span, just ahead of Seattle’s Jimmy Graham (28) New England’s Rob Gronkowski (27). Thomas caught 12 touchdowns each during the 2013-14 seasons for Denver.

Fantasy Goo: Break out the champagne because Julius Thomas is going to the Hall of Fame, THIS year! Well, we will slow our expectations to a possible Pro Bowl and fantasy owners will take that. There is little to not like about the potential of Bortles and Thomas becoming a household name duo in the fantasy world. It hurts to say it because they are JAGS but, last year did happen and Bortles tossed 35 TDs. Health… that’s the key for Thomas.

Gus Bradley said he does not plan to sit healthy players Week 17 against the Texans.

TH

Pyro's take: “My mindset is that if the guys are healthy and they can go, we talk about always compete, so let’s compete,” Bradley said. “That doesn’t mean that there might not be some personnel changes or guys that we look at, just like what we did with [cornerback] Nick Marshall. If there’s a chance that we think that can help us, if we need to take a look at it, we’ll do it.”

There are four players that it would make sense to sit down in the finale or at least reduce their snaps: receivers Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns, tight end Julius Thomas and cornerback Davon House.

Jaguars want Thomas to be more of a factor in the passing game

JT

Pyro's take: The Jaguars made an effort to get tight end Julius Thomas involved in the offense early in last week's game against Tennessee, in hopes it would help him and quarterback Blake Bortles improve their chemistry. It's something that's expected to continue this week. One coach told me the worry is Bortles will lock onto Thomas too often -- resulting in him missing other opportunities or throwing into coverage -- but the Jaguars are trying to minimize that risk. Bortles obviously feels more comfortable throwing to receivers Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns because they've been on the field all season, but the Jaguars need him to get to that point with Thomas pretty quickly so that Thomas can be more of a factor in the red zone. -- Mike DiRocco

Julius Thomas caught 5-of-8 targets for 28 yards and a touchdown

JT

Pyro's take: Julius Thomas finally made some action happen for the Jaguars. He had the most receptions and yards this season and scored his second touchdown. Colts struggle against tight ends, and thats where Jacksonville will be next Sunday.

JT active for Week 10

active

Pyro's take: Julius Thomas is indeed active for Week 10 against the Ravens. Proceed with caution, JT has not put much together and the Ravens have only allowed 1 TD to the position and 1 player to go for over 100 receiving yards. That happened to be the same day, same player, Gary Barnidge.

Julius Thomas (chest, hand) is practicing in full

JT

Pyro's take: The banged-up Julius Thomas looks ready to go for Sunday. He was injured when he fell last week, and it was unclear if he could make the game this week. Owners can breathe a sigh of relief as he has demonstrated he is a top-10 tight end.

Julius Thomas suffered a bruised rib on Sunday

JT

Pyro's take: According to Eugene Frenette "TE Julius Thomas has rib contusion from falling on ball vs. Texans."

This doesnt look like it will hold Julius Thomas back for London this Sunday. Wednesday practice will update more about this situation.

Julius Thomas (probable, hand) could have a "significant" role this week.

JT

Pyro's take: The Jaguars aren’t saying just how much more involved he’ll be against Houston, but one player said he expects Thomas’ role to be “significant.” QB Blake Bortles said having Thomas will be a huge help in the red zone, which is an area in which Thomas thrived the past two seasons (27 catches, 17 TDs in 2013-14). -- Mike DiRocco

Adam Schefter reports Julius Thomas (questionable, hand) will be active Sunday against the Buccaneers.

JT

Pyro's take: Schefter via twitter "After missing first four games with thumb injury, Jacksonville TE Julius Thomas will make Jaguars' debut today; not expected to be limited."

Julius Thomas (questionable, hand) is "still probably a week away."

JT

Pyro's take: "I’m still limited," Thomas said. "I don’t know if [playing] is going to be an option yet."

“It’s going to be a continuous process working with the doctors,” he said. “I’ll work my back and if the doctors are confident with the things I’m doing, they’ll let me do a little more and challenge me. It’s going to be a day-by-day situation, really.”

Julius Thomas (hand) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

JT

Pyro's take: Beat writer Ryan O'Halloran has tweeted "What's new on Thomas. He can start catching passes with repaired hand. Just ran routes last week."

Progression is being made, but more than likely he wont hit the field until week 6.

Julius Thomas (hand) has been ruled out for Week 4.

JT

Pyro's take: Julius Thomas wont be in the lineup this week and many beat writers believe it wont be until week 6 that we finally get to see "Orange Julius" in a Jacksonville Jaguar uniform. His value is at rock-bottom so maybe you can sneak a deal with a frustrated owner who is willing to deal.

Thomas expected out 4 weeks

Julius Thomas is expected to need surgery on his hand and miss the first four weeks of the season. This increases Allen Robinson's early season value and drops Julius down the pre-draft rankings.

Orange Crushed

Ugly! Not only did the Broncos lose to the Rams, but they also lost Montee Ball and Julius Thomas. The good news is that the x-rays came back negative, but he is still scheduled for further tests later today.

Pyro's take: Thomas injured his ankle after making a 2-yard reception during the Broncos’ second drive Sunday in a 22-7 loss to the St. Louis Rams. He had caught a 1-yard pass on third-and-2 during the Broncos’ first drive and finished with two catches for 3 yards. He has 12 touchdowns through nine games this year.

If Julius Thomas is unable to go, look for Jacob Tamme to step into his place. Tamme is a former teammate of Peyton Manning in Indianapolis, so they are familiar with each other. Tamme caught 4 receptions for 41 yards against the Rams on Sunday.

Getting More Involved

Julius Thomas was slowed by the Patriots last week only getting two targets and getting 33 yards. So, how will the Broncos get him more active? “Probably stop using him in protection,” Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase said Thursday. “We had to use him a little bit more to help our line situation and take a little bit off the running backs and, obviously as you saw in that game, we got hammered pretty good by those two linebackers and we had to make some adjustments during the game, and part of that was keeping (Thomas) in protection. I know that’s not ideal since he’s one of our better players at a skill position, but we’ll figure out some ways to help our protection and make sure he’s still a big impact player for our offense.”

Pyro's take: There will be a couple games this season, when one of the Broncos receivers will not do what is in him to do. Last week it was Julius, but expect his usual out put against the hapless Oakland Raiders.
