Lance Moore

Detroit Lions

2012 Pros and Cons

(+)Lance Moore is a prolific slot receiver in the Saints high powered offense

(+) Has the trust of Drew Brees as an outlet and underneath receiver and has the ability to catch ever ball thrown his way

(+) The departure of Robert Meachem ensures that Moore will see more targets this season

(+) Averaged a career high in yards per reception last season at 12.1

(-) Lance has suffured threw nagging injuries for what seems like his entire career

(-) Drew Brees spreads the ball around which means it will be hard for Moore to give you consistent production

(-) Jimmy Graham and Marques Colston are the top 2 targets in the passing game

(-) Lance will never be the biggest or most athletic receiver in the league which limits his upside

DID YOU KNOW?

In 2008, Lance Moore became one of only 5 players in the past 20 years to have scored 10 TDs in a season... and stand 5'9" or shorter!

The others:  Gary Clark - 1991 (WAS), Mark Clayton - 1991 (MIA), Ernest Givens - 1992 (HOU), and Steve Smith - 2005 (CAR)

Contract

In June this past offseason, Lance signed a one-year deal worth $1.759 million.  That was pretty much the best he was going to get after his disappointing 2009 campaign, but he’ll look to rebound well as he’d rather have the semi-security of a long-term deal somewhere in the NFL:

2010 - $1.759 million

Injury Report

Yellow

Moore dealt with a myriad of injury problems last season, but he's said to be completely healthy heading into 2010. Still, be cautious here

Lance Moore (ankle) is listed as probable for Week 15.

LM

Pyro's take: Lance Moore will be the number three wide receiver behind Megatron and Golden "Tater" Tots

Lance Moore out for week 5

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Lance Moore, safety Roman Harper, running back Mark Ingram, nose tackle Brodrick Bunkley and defensive end Tyrunn Walker have been officially ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears.

Pyro's take: Lance Moore has failed to build on his 2012 season and has been one of the most dropped receivers as of late, and with good reason. Kenny Stills has been performing well in Moore's role in the offense. Moore is not seeing enough targets, when healthy, to be a fantasy factor at this point.

Lance Moore is questionable

New Orleans Saints receiver Lance Moore is officially listed as questionable for Monday night’s game against the Miami Dolphins. But his chances of playing appear slim after he did not practice all week with a hand injury.

Pyro's take: Lance has been a big disappointment this season, and even if he does manage to play he is not a recommended play.

Lance Moore active for tonight's game

Saints wide receiver Lance Moore (ankle) will be active for tonight's game against the Cowboys.

Pyro's take: It's nice for the Saints to have that one more wide receiver to throw to, but he's not worth the risk of starting him on your fantasy football team at this point.

Lance Moore still sitting out

Saints wide receiver Lance Moore (ankle) is still sitting out practice and it's unlikely he'll play this Sunday against the Redskins.

Pyro's take: Still no timetable for his return, still no reason for him to be on your fantasy football team.

Lance Moore finally returns to practice

Saints wide receiver Lance Moore (ankle) returned to practice on Wednesday. He also finally admitted that he has been battling a high ankle sprain for the past few weeks, but is optimistic that he will be able to play this Monday night.

Pyro's take: The Saints will welcome him back kindly as just another weapon to add to their arsenal, but fantasy football owners probably won't be so kind. We wouldn't play him this week for sure, and beyond that is iffy at best as he was having a terrible year before the sprain anyway.

Lance Moore ruled out for Week 11

Saints wide receiver Lance Moore (ankle) has been ruled out for the game against the Bucs on Sunday.

Pyro's take: No shit, Sherlock.

Lance Moore still not practicing

Saints wide receiver Lance Moore (ankle) continues to miss practice and still has no timetable for his return.

Pyro's take: Yeah, we know. He should have been off your fantasy football team a couple of weeks ago.

Lance Moore ruled out for Week 10

Saints wide receiver Lance Moore (ankle) has been officially ruled out for the game against the Rams on Sunday.

Pyro's take: If you haven't dropped him from your fantasy football team yet, you might want to take a look on the waiver wire and find someone who can help your team more than this gimp.

Lance Moore misses practice again

Saints wide receiver Lance Moore (ankle) missed practice again on Thursday and there's still no timetable set for his return.

Pyro's take: Drop this guy. We know, he's a Saint receiver, but he wasn't doing anything before the injury either. Use that fantasy football roster spot on someone who can help you now as it's getting a little late in the season for holding out hope.

Lance Moore still not back at practice

Saints wide receiver Lance Moore (ankle) was still missing from practice on Wednesday.

Pyro's take: Moore hasn't been practicing for a couple of weeks and has become a regular weekly drop from fantasy football teams for those still clinging onto hope. Don't be the last one with this dud on your team.

Lance Moore declared Out for Sunday

Saints wide receiver Lance Moore (ankle) has officially been ruled out for the game against the Panthers on Sunday.

Pyro's take: Moore didn't practice all week and might have a high ankle sprain, so it doesn't look good for him in future weeks as well. Sit him at the end of your fantasy football bench for awhile and see how this injury shakes out.

Lance Moore misses practice again on Thursday

Saints wide receiver Lance Moore (ankle) missed practice for the second time this week on Thursday.

Pyro's take: It doesn't look like Moore will play on Sunday, but he hasn't been much of a fantasy football force this year anyway. Sit him at the end of your bench for now.

Lance Moore on sidelines in walking boot

Saints wide receiver Lance Moore (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday and was seen on the sidelines in a walking boot.

Pyro's take: This is the third injury to Moore since the end of his breakout season last year, so fantasy football owners must be severely disappointed. Keep him on your bench for awhile and hope he comes around.

Lance Moore to remain third wide receiver going forward

With Saints wide receivers Marquis Colston and Devery Henderson entrenched as the team's starters, Lance Moore will continue his role as the slot receiver in three-WR sets.

Pyro's take: After a surprising 2008 season, Moore has been a huge disappointment in 2009. The shoulder injury he suffered in the off-season seems to have taken it's toll on his game and his fantasy football value.

Moore limited on Friday, listed as probable for Sunday

Saints wide receiver Lance Moore (hamstring) was limited in practice on Friday, but is listed as probable on the injury report and is expected to play Sunday against the Jets.

Pyro's take: He'll most likely be limited on Sunday because of his hammy, but he'll play. However, we would keep him on your fantasy football bench until he starts rolling again as he has just two catches on three targets so far this year.

Lance Moore official ruled out for Sunday

Saints wide receiver Lance Moore (hamstring) was officially ruled to be out of the contest against the Bills on Sunday.

Pyro's take: Moore joins Mike Bell on the sidelines for what looks like a high-scoring affair this weekend. Make sure you take him out of your starting fantasy lineup before Sunday's kickoff.

Lance Moore on sidelines for practice Thursday

Saints wide receiver Lance Moore sat out practice again on Thursday as he works to recover from the hamstring injury he incurred last Sunday.

Pyro's take: The strain was said to not be as bad as originally thought, but with Lance sitting out practice again on Thursday, we doubt he'll be on the field come Sunday. He wasn't worth putting in your fantasy lineup yet anyway.

09/24/09, 04:00 PM CDT by Dawgmaticå

Moore's hamstring strain not as bad as originally thought

Saints wide receiver Lance Moore was pulled from the Week 2 win over the Eagles with a strained hamstring, but the injury is not as bad as the team thought it might be. He could be ready to go for Week 3 against Buffalo.

Pyro's take: It seems the bloom is certainly off the rose with this guy, as Moore didn't have any catches before being pulled in Week 2 and had just two catches while healthy in Week 1. Still, keep him on your fantasy bench for now, as anyone in a Saints uniform can eventually be useful.

Lance Moore finally back in action, looking good

New Orleans Saints WR Lance Moore, who has been practicing with the team for two weeks now, finally got a chance at live action Saturday. Moore has promptly responded with four catches for 29 yards and a 5-yard TD in the first half thus far.

Pyro's take: The Saints WR corps just got that much better with the return of Moore... and more crowded. While Moore was out recovering from shoulder surgery, WR Robert Meachem stepped up his game enough to draw praise from QB Drew Brees and coaches alike. Brees now has four fantasy-viable wide receivers to throw to this year, and that doesn't even take into account Jeremy Shockey, Reggie Bush, or Pierre Thomas.
