Blount force attack

Pyro's take: LeGarrette Blount already has more games this season with double-digit fantasy points then he did all of last season.

Guess Who's Back? Brady’s Back, Back Again And He Doesn't Skip A Beat As He Gets The Patriots Offense Into High Gear

Pyro's take: Tom Brady completed 28-of-40 passes for 406 yards and three touchdowns in New England's Week 5 win over the Browns.

Fantasy Goo: Brady showed no rust in his return and was in sync with the offense. The veteran QB was able to spread the ball around to multiple receivers, completing passes to seven different players. He looks like he is in midseason form.

Rob Gronkowski caught 5-of-7 targets for 109 yards. Although he did not score, he did provide his owners with confidence that the real Gronk is back and ready to roll for the remainder of the 2016 season.

Martellus Bennett caught 6-of-8 targets for 67 yards and three TD's. The Black Unicorn wasted no time showing Brady he is here in New England to produce. Bennett made the most of each target scoring three touchdowns on six receptions. Adding yet another option in this high powered offense look for Bennett to continue to provide another option for fantasy owners weekly.

Chris Hogan caught 4-of-5 targets for 114 yards.Seven-Eleven lead the Patriots in yardage on Sunday despite only getting five targets. It looks like he may become Tom's deep ball threat in the offense and the two were able to connect on two long passes of 43 and 63 yards. If the connection can continue then he is someone to target in fantasy leagues.

Julian Edelman caught five of 10 passes for 35 yards. Expect the double-digit targets to continue for Edelman as he is Brady's favorite receiver and the production should increase as well.

James White rushed five times for 26 yards and added four receptions for 63 additional yards. White was utilized as the third-down back for the Patriots this role has extra value when Tom Brady is QB as he likes to use his running backs in the passing game and there will be weeks that White may lead the team in targets coming out of the backfield it is safe to say he should have solid value in PPR formats.

Danny Amendola caught 2-of-2 targets for 11 yards he is listed as the WR3 but falls behind fellow receivers Julain Edelman and Chris Hogan as well as tight ends Martellus Bennett and Rob Gronkowski in the pecking order for targets. There is not much to go around for Amendola and he is not a fantasy option unless an injury occurs.

LeGarrette Blount rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. An early touchdown helped fantasy owners. Expect a similiar workload for Blount going forward and he will be the goal line back which will help to increase his value.

Hip Hip… bahhhhh

Pyro's take: LeGarrette Blount is on today’s injury report with a sore hip.

Fantasy Goo: After missing the last quarter of last year fantasy season with a hip issue, fantasy owners will want to pay close attention to this situation and consider beefing up their backup RB position. If he starts for the Patriots you should start him as well since he has been solid to begin 2016. Being he is a Patriots player I feel your pain as finding out the truth is a tough task to be burdened with. Good luck with that. Dion Lewis is close to being on the radar and could be a sweet waiver add this week if you do not want to miss out on him for the second half of the season.

Blount riding high

LeGarrette Blount is just one game shy of tying the number of double digit fantasy performances he had last season.

Blount Plans to Make the Dolphins D Sleep with the Fishes

f

Pyro's take: Vegas has the Patriots beating the Dolphins in Week #2 by 6.5.

Fantasy Goo: With the spread so high, that means the Patriots will face a positive game script. Thus, Blount should shoulder a great portion of the road. They’ll want to ground, pound, and play D. In 20215, only 3 teams gave up more rushing yards per game. Wild Bill always looks to exploit a bad run D!

Dion Lewis Needs A Second Surgery

New England

Pyro's take: New England RB Dion Lewis will undergo a cleanup procedure on his knee, leaving him out for an indefinite period. Lewis tore his ACL in November and is a good candidate to start the season on the PUP list.

Fantasy Goo: Tough blow for the Patriots as they are missing Tom Brady for the first four games and now Lewis is likely to be out for the first six weeks. LeGarrette Blount was already expected to take on a heavy role in the backfield. Expect James White to take over the receiving back role in New England, making him worth a late-round pick on most drafts. Lewis is only draftable in the final round of deep leagues at this point due to the uncertainty around his health.

Tyler Gaffney Sleeper Running Back In 2016 Here Come The Belitrix

Tyler Gaffney

Pyro's take: Tyler Gaffney has started the preseason out strong as he finished Thursday's preseason game with 64 yards (including a 44-yard touchdown run) on nine second-half carries.

Fantasy Goo: Gaffney has spent the last two years on injured reserve so he has become a forgotten name. But Bill Belichick is a fan of his and scooped him up from the Panthers two seasons ago. If Gaffney stays healthy he could be this year's Dion Lewis. Keep on eye on Gaffney during the preseason as this could be a name that pops up again this year.
So it's 2016 and one thing remains the same Which Patriots running back can you trust to draft in fantasy this season? Currently Dion Lewis is has the highest ADP but can he be trusted coming back from knee injury then there's LeGarrette Blount who is still lingering around Foxborough.Brandon Bolden, Tyler Gaffney, Donald Brown, James White, Joey Ioesefa and Rookie from Arizona State D.J.Foster are all fighting to make the roster, this backfield is as hard to predict as ever but is worth being monitored as the Patriots offense is a perennial fantasy scoring machine.

LeGarrette Blount rushed 19 times for 66 yards and one touchdown

LB

Pyro's take: The wrecking ball handled 19-of-21 carries for the Patriots. He could have scored a couple times, but was stuffed before crossing the end zone. He eventually made it in. He should be considered a low #1 or high #2 running back with Dion Lewis out for the season.

LeGarrette Blount ready to rumble

LB

Pyro's take: Jeff Howe the Patriots beat writer has reported via twitter that "Pats cut Eric Martin to make room for LeGarrette Blount."

This likely will mean that Blount will be the first and second down option, as well as the goal line back, where Dion Lewis will be the third down specialtist.

Practice Pads

LeGarrette Blount was in full practice pads today. According to Michael Whitmer via Twitter "Perfect attendance at Patriots full-pads practice, which is inside Gillette. That includes Edelman, Blount"

Pyro's take: The Patriots have the one seed locked, but dont think that Bill Belichick will let that matter to him or the players. Expect the same from the Patriots regardless if this was preseason, week one, or a meaningless home game.

Out for Sunday

Mike Reiss has reported that LeGarrette Blount will not be available for Sunday against the New York Jets. According to Reiss via twitter "LeGarrette Blount (shoulder) also ruled out by the Patriots."

Pyro's take: The Patriots will now be down to Jonas Gray and Shane Vereen against the Jets. New England has enough fire power to not let this effect them, so no need to worry, if your an owner try to grab Jonas Gray, he may be available after disappearing when New England signed Blount.

Blount but Steel

LeGarrette Blount signs with the Steelers. He will get a two year contract that is worth $3.85 million and carries a signing bonus of $950,000. Blount had his best year last year, as he had 5.0 yards per carry average and seven touchdowns. He also torched Indianapolis in the playoffs for four touchdowns and 166 yards rushing.

Pyro's take: Steel-Town isn't the best place for Blount to land, fantasy wise, as Le'Veon Bell is the primary ball carrier in Pittsburgh. LeGarrette will most likely see approximately 10 carries a game, and with no receiving skills, he is faced with a very tight ceiling on his fantasy production. Furthermore, LeGarrette Blount has never been a full time rusher in his five seasons in the NFL, I would expect that trend to continue. His worth comes in hand-cuff only, if you want to take Le'Veon in your draft, other than that, he should be ignored.

Blount looking to keep the momentum rolling

If it’s true that jinxes only work if you believe in them, New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount should be in no danger of suffering from the “Sports Illustrated cover jinx.”

Blount appears on the cover of this week’s edition of the sports magazine, sparking fear that he might experience bad luck Sunday in the Patriots’ AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos as a result. Never mind the fact that Broncos receiver Wes Welker also appears on an alternate version of this week’s cover — Blount isn’t worried about the “jinx” anyway.

“Nah, I don’t believe in jinxes,” Blount told reporters Wednesday.

Blount said he hasn’t actually seen the cover in person, but he’s gotten text messages with photos of it.

Blount has been on a tear the last few weeks, emerging as the team’s starter after being benched for fumbling in Week 12, also against the Broncos. Blount had 24 carries for 166 yards and four touchdowns during the Patriots’ win over the Indianapolis Colts in Saturday night’s AFC divisional playoff game.

Pyro's take: Blount was the man against the Colts, and will look to carry that momentum into the AFC CHampionship game. There i no doubt that the Patriots are going to use the run to set up the pass this week, and Blount is that blunt tool they favor most right now.

The Broncos defense is not that strong against the run, and without Von Miller Blount has a chance to get to the second level in this game. If that happens, his size and aggressiveness could lead to some big runs.
