Without Moncrief, Dorsett Will see a Bump But Tough Matchup

d

Pyro's take: Alas, Moncrief is on the shelf for a few weeks. Dorsett is a great fill in

Fantasy Goo: Indy faces the Chargers, which should mean Dorsett will see a great deal of Jason Verrett. I love the Verrett pickup, but he has a tough matchup in Week 3

Good grief Moncrief

@gmbremer Donte Moncrief has a fractured scapula, out 4-6 weeks per Pagano.

Pyro's take: @gmbremer Donte Moncrief has a fractured scapula, out 4-6 weeks per Pagano.

Fantasy Goo: Donte Moncrief was the darling for many drafters this season. However, Hilton and Dorsett will take up the responsibilities at the WR position. Phillip Dorsett is a burner and Hilton has his own set of quicks as well. When Andrew Luck is the quarterback good things can happen. Oddly, these two have not done much yet this season. This could change this weekend. If you need a WR badly you can hit the wire for Phillip Dorsett who is now the Colts WR2. Dorsett may not be a volume receiver but he can rack up yardage in the deep passing game.

Philip Dorsett Shining In Colts Camp

Philip Dorsett

Pyro's take: Phillip Dorsett has been the most improved player this training camp, according to the Indianapolis Star. Dorsett is now providing multiple dimensions beyond just his speed.

Fantasy Goo: Dorsett clearly had talent as a No. 1 draft pick in 2015, and he figures to see more targets this season with Andre Johnson and Coby Fleener exiting the team. The Colts have enough firepower to support three WRs, but Dorsett appears the clear No. 3 behind T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief, both of whom are expected by many to have big seasons in 2016.

Philip Dorsett Is In Line For Breakout Season

Zak Keefer

Pyro's take: Zak Keefer of the Indianapolis Star believes that Colts wide receiver Phillip Dorsett is in line for a breakout season in 2016.

Fantasy Goo: "Dorsett is back, and healthy," writes Keefer. "All those balls that used to go to Coby Fleener? They could be headed for Phillip Dorsett this fall, the speedy slot receiver who’s in line for a breakout season." With Andrew Luck healthy and the offense set to use three receivers on a full-time basis, Dorsett should see plenty of opportunities to prove his first-round status. He makes for an excellent flier late in drafts.

Phillip Dorsett did not suffer an injury in Sundays game

PD

Pyro's take: Zak Keefer via Twitter "For those wondering: Colts WR Phillip Dorsett was NOT injured Sunday (team said he hurt his ankle). Will play Sunday in Miami."

Phillip Dorsett (ankle) has been cleared to return this week.

PD

Pyro's take: He has been out since week 7, but will cut into Andre Johnson's and Griff Whalen's playing time playing time. He was averaging 15+ yards per catch before getting injured.

“I think I should be fine,’’ Dorsett said. “It’s the mental part right now, just going out there and getting that first tackle.’’

Prior to the injury, he had 11 receptions for 167 yards and one touchdown.

“I just want to get out there and play,’’ Dorsett said. “You miss six, seven weeks, it’s tough. But I had the surgery and going through it not really knowing if I’m going to be able to be back this year and not sure if I’m going to be the same.”

“But now that I know, I’m just excited to be back out there.’’

He’s done everything possible on the practice field to test the leg, but Dorsett has discovered it’s impossible not to think about the injury.

“You think about it because it’s so soon, but it’s stable,’’ he said. “That’s all I care about.”

“It’s going to hurt. It’s going to ache because it’s a new injury still, but I can get through it and it’s not affecting me.’’
