(+) Bradford gets back one of his favorite targets in Danny Amendola and should be able to provide a solid target underneath

(+) Bradford had his receiving corps boosted with the addition of Brian Quick

(+) Bradford is healthy and has a chip on his shoulder looking to rebound from his sophomore slump

(+) The defense should be much improved this year and allow for a more balanced attack and Bradford to use one of his best weapons, the play action pass, more effectively

(-) Bradford suffered through an injury shortened season in which he played in only 10 games

(-) In ten games last season Bradford was only able to throw a putrid 6 TDs

Bradford is one of those Renaissance Man type of guys who can pretty much do it all.  He's a scratch golfer, an accomplished cello player, he played hockey, basketball, and baseball before college, and yes, he's won the Heisman Trophy.  He's also sharp as a tack, but now he'll face his toughest challenge yet... turning the St. Louis Rams into a winning franchise again.

Injury Report

Bradford had shoulder surgery this past offseason after injuring it in college, but the doctors have all said that he's completely healed and should have no problems going into his rookie season with the Rams

Doug Pederson said the team could "possibly" add a "young quarterback."

SB

Pyro's take: ederson mentioned the possibility of getting "a young quarterback." We transcribed the good part below (emphasis mine):

"I do. I really do. I think the pieces are there. Great talent on defense. The strength probably on this team is the defensive line, linebackers, tremendous talent there. I think the skill guys are as good, if not better than most of the National Football League, and there’s guys there who have made a lot of plays, young guys, that have made some great plays for this organization. Re-signing a guy like Zach Ertz, I was excited to get him and Brent Celek both wrapped up, Lane Johnson wrapped up.

And then you start just kinda filling in. A hole here, a hole there, get some depth here, you know, get you a young quarterback possibly, and then you just start developing your talent and you see what happens after that."

SB

Pyro's take: "I don't want to say impossible, but it's going to be extremely difficult to go past one year," Caplan said. "It's that or he walks, that's the way I see it. I will be stunned if they get an extension done. A long-term deal, stunned." Bradford reportedly asked for $25 million annually in contract talks earlier this year. Franchising Bradford would create stability while not overcommitting to him. Bradford set career highs in yards and completion percentage in his first season with the Eagles, but had 17 turnovers and hasn't been more than a league-average quarterback.--Rotoworld

Doug Pederson called Sam Bradford a "top-notch quarterback" and said he'd fit "perfectly" in his offense.

SB

Pyro's take: Jeff McClane via Twitter "Pederson: I like Sam Bradford is a top-notch QB. Would fit perfectly into my system."

Bradford threw for 3,725-yards and had a completion percentage of 65 percent. Under Pederson, Alex Smith had one of his better seasons. This may bode well for Sam Bradford.

Doug Pederson will call plays on offense next season.

DP

Pyro's take: Jeff McClane via Twitter "Pederson: He will call plays. Had been calling plays for the 2d half of Chiefs games since the Steelers game."

Pederson runs a far more conservative offense than Chip Kelly. They are also looking at Frank Reich to be the offensive coordinator.

Eagles have requested to interview ex-Giants coach Tom Coughlin for their head-coaching vacancy.

SB

Pyro's take: Sources in the Giants organization said Friday they expected Coughlin to speak to the Eagles about their coaching vacancy. The sources said the Eagles are interested in Coughlin's services, which jibes with a report from FOX 5 in New York on Friday night that stated the Eagles requested permission from the Giants to speak with Coughlin.--Mike Garafolo

Eagles coach Chip Kelly said he "certainly" wants Sam Bradford to sign a new deal.

SB

Pyro's take: Eagles Insider via Twitter "Chip on @SportsRadioWIP: We certainly want Bradford back and we'll do everything we can to get him back. No contract talks during season."

Chip Kelly continues to insist he wants to sign Sam Bradford long-term.

SB

Pyro's take: Albert Breer via Twitter "Chip Kelly asked if he wants Sam Bradford long-term: "We've always wanted that. We wouldn't have traded for him if we thought that he'd only be here for a year."

Sam Bradford didn't perform as many would have expected, but neither did the whole Eagles team. Another season is warranted to see if he has the goods or not.

Sam Bradford (shoulder) remains day to day.

SB

Pyro's take: Jeff McClane stated via Twitter "Sam Bradford will practice tomorrow but Chip Kelly said he's still not sure about his availability for Sunday."

Probably a negative for this week, but we will know more later on as it gets closer to Sunday. With the ineffective Mark Sanchez, Bradford will play if anywhere close to healthy.

No shot Sam Bradford plays on Sunday or Thursday

SB

Pyro's take: Per NJ.com- According to a person familiar with the situation, there is "no way" Bradford suits up for the team's game Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the Thanksgiving day matchup with the Detroit Lions.

Sam Bradford (shoulder, concussion) is expected to miss Week 11, and quite possibly Week 12.

SB

Pyro's take: With Bradford playing on Thanksgiving Thursday he will be hampered to be ready by then. Therefore, Sanchez could be under center the next two weeks. First against the Buccs and then Detroit.

Ian Rapoport mentioned via Twitter "Based on initial tests, #Eagles QB Sam Bradford expected to miss this Sunday & potentially Thursday, I’m told. Expect Mark Sanchez to start."

Bradford suffered Grade II AC Joint sprain

SB

Pyro's take: Les Bowen mentioned via Twitter "OK, hearing now Grade II AC joint for Bradford. Non throwing shoulder, so might not be out long, depending on concussion."

He took a vicious hit by Cameron Wake which put him under and ruined his shoulder. Mark Sanchez moved the ball better down the field, but also made a bone-headed type interception at the goal line.

Update on the Bradford Week 10 Injury

update

Pyro's take: As of Sunday night, there is no official word on Bradford's shoulder. Chances are we will not hear anything until X-Rays and further examinations are held Monday. They did say Bradford indeed suffered a concussion, which comes with its own unique set of difficulties. If only that were the extent of his worries. His left shoulder was driven into the turf, and let me tell you neither Corey Haim nor Feldmen was doing the driving. The should injury looks to be of concern going forward. Marck Sanchez is the backup. Bradford finished 14 of 23 for 156 yards and 1 INT.

Chip Kelly has no plans to bench Sam Bradford.

SB

Pyro's take: Jeff McClane has reported via twitter "Chip Kelly on the #Eagles QB situation: "Sam's our quarterback. We have full confidence in Sam."

Well, ya, its not like he has an option between Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. Kelly's decision rests on either Bradford or Sanchize. Not too difficult of a decision here.

Bradford has shown an improved deep ball in recent weeks, but has as many interceptions as touchdowns (nine).

Bradford out for the season

Chris Mortensen@mortreport

Rams QB Sam Bradford is out for season after MRI shows he did tear left knee ACL, per sources. Rams will announce later today. @ESPNNFL

Pyro's take: Well, so much for Bradford avoiding the scare. Worst fears have been realized for Sam and Rams. Time to move Rams receivers down your tiers. Zac Stacy should be very busy this year.

Bradford avoids a big scare

When the St. Louis Rams played the Cleveland Browns Saturday night, the worst happened as quarterback Sam Bradford left the game in the first quarter with an injury to his left leg. Bradford had surgery on his knee previously when he tore his ACL in week 7 last season.

Bradford took the hit to his knee from Browns defensive end Armonty Bryant, beating left tackle Jake Long, who is also returning from a torn ACL. Bradford walked off of the field under his own power.

An MRI will be done to determine exactly what Bradford's injury currently is, but so far it appears that he won't miss the season. Although that too is speculation, but it appears as though the Rams have dodged a bullet and Bradford doesn't have any ACL damage.

Here's a statement that Jeff Fisher made about Bradford.

"I can't speculate but it appeared just to be a hyperextension of the same knee," Fisher said. "He's walking around fine inside right now. That's all I can tell you."

Pyro's take: No matter what, this is horrible news for Sam Bradford, as well as the Rams receivers. Bradford is the key to the success of St. Louis this season, and now that he has hyper-extended the same knee that he tore last season, he becomes a major injury risk in 2014. It remains to be seen what the extent of this injury is, but it has to have affected Sam mentally. Shaun Hill is the backup for the Rams, and if he is called on to be the starter, it will be bad news for fantasy owners.

Jeff Fisher says Bradford will be under center in 2014

In an interview Tuesday with ESPN's "Mike and Mike," Fisher said Bradford is making good progress in his rehab from a torn ACL and left little doubt who will be under center as the starter when the 2014 season begins.

"Sam's doing great with the rehab," Fisher said. "He's really excited. He took on a leadership role last year and he's maintained that and he's our quarterback, and we've said that."

Fisher also touched on Bradford's contract, which has become a topic of discussion. Bradford, heading into the fifth year of a six-year deal, is set to count $17.6 million against the salary cap. There has been speculation that the Rams, who hold two first-round picks in May's draft, could cut Bradford or redo his contract.

"We talk about extensions with all our players under contract," Fisher said. "Whether or not we do so with him, I don't know where all this came from, but Sam's our quarterback. He's going to be under center."

Pyro's take: Bradford is coming off a torn ACL, and still looking for a signature season in his career. The Rams are going to have the potential to help him out even more with their high picks (2 & 13) in this years NFL Draft. That will go along with Tavon Austin and Zac Stacy, both of whom showed nice potential in their rookie seasons.

This could be a put up or shut up season for Sam. We had him as a sleeper candidate last season, and he was off to a good start with 14 touchdowns and only four interceptions in seven games.
I like to bet on players that have to bet on themselves. Bradford will be avoided in most drafts next year, so he will be a smart add as a backup toward the end of your draft.

Bradford jazzed over surrounding talent and speed

The influx of talent and speed into the Rams offense this offseason has the fourth-year quarterback foaming at the mouth. "I've been waiting for this, just wanting to see this offense succeed and maybe do some things we haven't been able to in the past. Defenses are going to have to choose who they pay attention to... with the speed we've brought in, it really allows us to open things up and put other teams in a bind," said Bradford.

Pyro's take: The additions of rookie WR Tavon Austin and TE Jared Cook certainly make this St. Louis offense more formidable, as does the signing of left tackle, Jake Long. The speed and talent on this team are undeniable, but it may take awhile for a team this young to gel. We'd also like Bradford's fantasy prospects a little more if he didn't have one of the tougher strength of schedule's for QBs in the league. His Week 16 match-up (fantasy Super Bowl week) against a much improved Tampa Bay defense starring CB Darrelle Revis doesn't help either. We love his future in the NFL, but believe it would be wise to temper expectations of a break-out season here.
