2012 Pros and Cons

(+) Bradford proved in his rookie season that he has the talent to be a force in the NFL

(+) Bradford gets back one of his favorite targets in Danny Amendola and should be able to provide a solid target underneath

(+) Bradford had his receiving corps boosted with the addition of Brian Quick

(+) Bradford is healthy and has a chip on his shoulder looking to rebound from his sophomore slump

(+) The defense should be much improved this year and allow for a more balanced attack and Bradford to use one of his best weapons, the play action pass, more effectively

(-) Bradford suffered through an injury shortened season in which he played in only 10 games

(-) In ten games last season Bradford was only able to throw a putrid 6 TDs

(-) Threw for under 200 yards in 6 of 10 games and had another with 203 yards

(-) Had no multiple TD games last season

(-) Bradford needs some improved offensive line play as he has seemed fragile and shaken during his first two years in the league

Bradford is one of those Renaissance Man type of guys who can pretty much do it all.  He's a scratch golfer, an accomplished cello player, he played hockey, basketball, and baseball before college, and yes, he's won the Heisman Trophy.  He's also sharp as a tack, but now he'll face his toughest challenge yet... turning the St. Louis Rams into a winning franchise again.

Bradford signed an insane contract at the beginning of training camp this summer.  The deal ended up being for six years, $78 million that included $50 million guaranteed and the opportunity to pocket another $8 million through incentives based on playoff, Super Bowl, and Pro Bowl appearances.  The details to this monster are below:

2010 - $320,000 (+ $2.88 million roster bonus)

2011 - $405,000 (+ $17.974 million "signing bonus")

2012 - $1.205 million

2013 - $2.005 million

2014 - $2.805 million

2015 - $3.605 million

Injury Report

Bradford had shoulder surgery this past offseason after injuring it in college, but the doctors have all said that he's completely healed and should have no problems going into his rookie season with the Rams

Can you Diggs it?

Pyro's take: @mattvensel No Stefon Diggs today either.

Fantasy Goo: Stefon Diggs has been pulling his groin (I do too) and has a groin injury as well. White hot Diggs to start the season has cooled down. Stefon has gone for 103, 182, 40 and then 47 yards last week. Sam Bradford has been the same average QB that he has always been. Bradford has a nice completion percentage but, Diggs owners want to get back to the heavy receiving yardage totals that he had. Stefon Diggs and Kyle Rudolph are the focal point in the passing attack this year. The Vikings running game does not scare anyone since A.P. got sent to the infirmary. I give a 50-50 week to week play for Diggs going forward.

Sam Bradford Gets The Go Ahead To Start Week Two For Minnesota

Pyro's take: ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Bradford is "expected" to start in Week two's matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Schefter later added that Bradford "took all reps with the starting offense this week" during practice.

Fantasy Goo:Bradford is expected to start this Week against the Packers. In the season opener, Shaun Hill completed just over 50 percent of his passes for 236 yards and failed to throw a touchdown or an interception in the contest. In the upcoming matchup on Sunday night, Minnesota's offense will need to put up points to contend with Green Bay's high-powered offense and Bradford is seemingly the best signal caller for the job rostered by the Vikings.

Hut Hut Hike… Hand-Off

‏@Andrew_Krammer Shaun Hill leading QB drills today with Sam Bradford in tow. #Vikings

Pyro's take: ‏@Andrew_Krammer Shaun Hill leading QB drills today with Sam Bradford in tow. #Vikings

Fantasy Goo: Shaun Hill will be very busy week one. If you call handing the ball to AP, All Day then Shaun Hill will be sweating profusely. Peterson does not play in preseason games anymore and will be fresh for week 1. The Vikings passing attack should be limited until Sam Bradford takes over and becomes comfortable. Peterson should be in for high volume this week. Adrian should be a dump off target for Hill giving PPR appeal to Peterson as well.

Minnesota Vikings Aquire Quarterback From Philadelphia Eagles In What Will Be Known As The Bradford Exchange

The Philadelphia Eagles

Pyro's take: The Philadelphia Eagles have traded QB Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings for a 2017 first-round draft selection and a 2018 conditional fourth-round draft selection. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Goo: The Vikings were in need of a quarterback since losing Teddy Bridgewater for the year and traded for Bradford on Saturday. Bradford will garner fantasy value with the Vikings due to the weapons that surround him in his new city.

Doug Pederson reiterates that Sam Bradford will be his starting QB for Game 1

Doug Pederson reiterates that Sam Bradford will be his starting QB, barring injury, for Game 1 in September.

Pyro's take: Doug Pederson reiterates that Sam Bradford will be his starting QB, barring injury, for Game 1 in September.

Fantasy Goo: Sam Bradford’s best season yielded 21 passing and 1 rushing touchdown. He is still just 28 years old but, patience is beginning to wear thin for this guy to shit or get off the pot. Sam has already banked $78,058,119 and if he completes his current contract he will have stolen $113,058,119 from the NFL. If you look at his current NFL team photo he looks like the guy down the street that everyone believes to be the one responsible for the missing cats from the neighborhood. Brave fantasy owners can try selecting him this year as he looks to hold the starting spot just as long as it takes for Carson Wentz to say he is ready.

Wentz is Ahead of Schedule

Pyro's take: According to the Eagles QB coach, John DeFilippo, Carson Wentz appears to be ahead of schedule. DeFilippo complements his mental awareness, character, and his stature after he has had time to evaluate him in person. Wentz hails from a North Dakota State University and has smooth mechanics in his throwing motion as well as a big arm. Wentz was drafted No.2 overall in the 2016 draft after the Eagles sold the barn to move up.

Fantasy Goo: Bradford is getting paid $12.5 M this year and is expected to start until further notice. Bradford started 7 games in 2013, 0 in 2014, and 14 in 2015. Wentz is the presumed future of this franchise and optimistically, I expect him to start the second half of the season. I assume as the fantasy season nears, Wentz will overtake Bradford in Average Draft Pick because of Bradford's injury history and the allure of the unknown. Don't overpay.

Sam Bradford wants out of Philadelphia

Pyro's take: Sam Bradford wants out of Philadelphia and that's obvious considering that the Eagles traded away their future to move six spots to draft a quarterback.

The Philadelphia Eagles organization has different plans. They already paid him $11 million dollars which would cost against the cap if he went elsewhere, and Bradford gives them the best chance to win now, as they develop the rookie quarterback.

Stafford in Chip Kelly's offense threw for 3725 yards and 19 touchdowns to go along with 14 interceptions in 14 games played. Just pure ugliness.

Doug Pederson said the team could "possibly" add a "young quarterback."

Pyro's take: ederson mentioned the possibility of getting "a young quarterback." We transcribed the good part below (emphasis mine):

"I do. I really do. I think the pieces are there. Great talent on defense. The strength probably on this team is the defensive line, linebackers, tremendous talent there. I think the skill guys are as good, if not better than most of the National Football League, and there’s guys there who have made a lot of plays, young guys, that have made some great plays for this organization. Re-signing a guy like Zach Ertz, I was excited to get him and Brent Celek both wrapped up, Lane Johnson wrapped up.

And then you start just kinda filling in. A hole here, a hole there, get some depth here, you know, get you a young quarterback possibly, and then you just start developing your talent and you see what happens after that."

Pyro's take: "I don't want to say impossible, but it's going to be extremely difficult to go past one year," Caplan said. "It's that or he walks, that's the way I see it. I will be stunned if they get an extension done. A long-term deal, stunned." Bradford reportedly asked for $25 million annually in contract talks earlier this year. Franchising Bradford would create stability while not overcommitting to him. Bradford set career highs in yards and completion percentage in his first season with the Eagles, but had 17 turnovers and hasn't been more than a league-average quarterback.--Rotoworld

Doug Pederson called Sam Bradford a "top-notch quarterback" and said he'd fit "perfectly" in his offense.

Pyro's take: Jeff McClane via Twitter "Pederson: I like Sam Bradford is a top-notch QB. Would fit perfectly into my system."

Bradford threw for 3,725-yards and had a completion percentage of 65 percent. Under Pederson, Alex Smith had one of his better seasons. This may bode well for Sam Bradford.

Doug Pederson will call plays on offense next season.

Pyro's take: Jeff McClane via Twitter "Pederson: He will call plays. Had been calling plays for the 2d half of Chiefs games since the Steelers game."

Pederson runs a far more conservative offense than Chip Kelly. They are also looking at Frank Reich to be the offensive coordinator.

Doug Pederson said he'll consider Pat Shurmur for a spot on his coaching staff.

Eagles have requested to interview ex-Giants coach Tom Coughlin for their head-coaching vacancy.

Pyro's take: Sources in the Giants organization said Friday they expected Coughlin to speak to the Eagles about their coaching vacancy. The sources said the Eagles are interested in Coughlin's services, which jibes with a report from FOX 5 in New York on Friday night that stated the Eagles requested permission from the Giants to speak with Coughlin.--Mike Garafolo

Eagles coach Chip Kelly said he "certainly" wants Sam Bradford to sign a new deal.

Pyro's take: Eagles Insider via Twitter "Chip on @SportsRadioWIP: We certainly want Bradford back and we'll do everything we can to get him back. No contract talks during season."

Chip Kelly continues to insist he wants to sign Sam Bradford long-term.

Pyro's take: Albert Breer via Twitter "Chip Kelly asked if he wants Sam Bradford long-term: "We've always wanted that. We wouldn't have traded for him if we thought that he'd only be here for a year."

Sam Bradford didn't perform as many would have expected, but neither did the whole Eagles team. Another season is warranted to see if he has the goods or not.

Sam Bradford (shoulder) expects to play Week 13 against the Patriots.

Pyro's take: Tim McManus via Twitter "Barring setback, Bradford expects to play"

Bradford has been bad, Sanchez was worse.

Sam Bradford (shoulder) remains day to day.

Pyro's take: Jeff McClane stated via Twitter "Sam Bradford will practice tomorrow but Chip Kelly said he's still not sure about his availability for Sunday."

Probably a negative for this week, but we will know more later on as it gets closer to Sunday. With the ineffective Mark Sanchez, Bradford will play if anywhere close to healthy.

No shot Sam Bradford plays on Sunday or Thursday

Pyro's take: Per NJ.com- According to a person familiar with the situation, there is "no way" Bradford suits up for the team's game Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the Thanksgiving day matchup with the Detroit Lions.

Sam Bradford has not cleared concussion protocol

Pyro's take: Tim McManus via Twitter mentioned "Bradford, Mathews still haven't cleared concussion protocol per Chip."

11/19/15, 03:02 AM CST by Vaaal-verde

Sam Bradford (shoulder, concussion) is expected to miss Week 11, and quite possibly Week 12.

Pyro's take: With Bradford playing on Thanksgiving Thursday he will be hampered to be ready by then. Therefore, Sanchez could be under center the next two weeks. First against the Buccs and then Detroit.

Ian Rapoport mentioned via Twitter "Based on initial tests, #Eagles QB Sam Bradford expected to miss this Sunday & potentially Thursday, I’m told. Expect Mark Sanchez to start."
