(+) Vincent Jackson goes from the high flying San Diego offense to the more balanced Tampa Bay attack, but Josh Freeman has a much bigger arm than Rivers
(+) Vincent Jackson has elite size for the position at 6’5” 230 pounds
(+) The San Diego offense had multiple targets of elite caliber, moving to Tampa Bay should increase his overall targets making him more consistent
(+) V-Jax is a high upside guy who scored 20 or more points in three games last season
(-) V-Jax can have some low lows, his lowest output of the season last year was 1.5 fantasy points in week 7 last year
(-) Struggled against the better pass defenses in the league last season and seems to have trouble separating from elite pass defenders
(-) Even though his size would indicate he is a great red zone target his average touchdown distance was 24.25 yards last season
Some people like to call him “Wild Child” (a nickname he’s certainly lived up to off the field), but we’d rather call him by his childhood nickname; Frisbee. This monstrous, whirling dervish of a receiver improved upon his previous year’s stats yet again in 2009, and there doesn’t seem to be a ceiling for this 6’5” Charger. He established himself as one of the most dependable wideouts in the game this past year, as he caught just about everything tossed even close to him. His hands are like leather magnets out there, and there’s really nothing the 27-year old Jackson can’t do. He proved to be an imposing red-zone threat, yet has no problem going down the seam on a fly pattern with the best of them. He could go over the middle on a crossing pattern, yet can tiptoe the sidelines as well. 2009 was a breakout year for the Big Frisbee, and we don’t expect him to land anytime soon.

~ Tied for 34th in the league with 106 targets
~ Ranked tenth in the league with 17 receptions of 20+ yards
~ Tied for twelfth in the league with 58 catches for first downs
~ Ranked 89th in the league with 180 yards after the catch (YAC)

With Philip Rivers signing a fat seven-year contract at the beginning of the ’09 season, all that’s left to do to ensure years of greatness in San Diego is for the Chargers to lock up Jackson with a multi-year deal… and they will… eventually. That's the key word, eventually. There is a very real possibility that Jackson's holdout stretches into the regular season. That and his possible suspension from a few DUI charges have his stock dropping faster than the Tower of Terror. If Jackson somehow is on the field for at least 14 games, he can expect more targets as the recent departure of future Hall-of-Famer LaDainian Tomlinson suggests the Chargers have been moving more towards a pass-happy offense. If Vincent can see one or two more targets per game within that offense, which we believe he will, he immediately becomes a #1 WR on fantasy teams in 2010 as he was on the cusp of it already despite a serious lack of looks in 2009.
~ With the lack of a proven running back, Vincent might draw more double-teams
~ Malcom Floyd has the tools to be a worthy complimentary receiver, but it’s not a definite that he shows it
~ Jackson’s steadfast holdout concerning his contract could be a major distraction at the beginning of the year
~ There will likely be a suspension on the horizon for the Big Frisbee due to the two DUIs he’s racked up over the years

VJax showing the world how he's risen up through the WR rankings:
Speed, size, hands, what more could you ask for?
The only thing keeping Jackson from joining the likes of Moss, Fitzgerald and Johnson as an elite receiver is targets. Rivers likes to scan the field rather than locking in on one target, a trait that has prohibited many other receivers from reaching elite status. Other than Antonio Gates, VJax is as close to royalty in San Diego as they've had in a receiving target in a long time. However, he only saw 5 more targets in 2009 than he did in 2008, and at just 7.1 looks/game, there's no way to climb up over that elite hump. With LT21 gone, that could change for Jackson, if he doesn't let his contract situation and 3-game suspension impede on his progress.
VJax is a restricted free agent and was extended a first- and third-round tender from the Chargers. There’s no doubt San Diego will make a move to keep Jackson in the fold for years to come, it’s just a matter of when...
2010 – Restricted Free Agent
Malcom Floyd might be the handcuff to VJax right now, but he could develop into a viable fantasy option on his own this year. Keep a close eye on Legedu Naanee as an alternate option here.
V-Jax hasn't had any major injuries over the past few years and is good to go for 2010
